2023-24 Season | Game #69 | Heat @ Cavs | March 20, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well, just a disheartening and infuriating loss after we had battled back to take the lead, go up 4, and had 3 chances to go up 7 (or more) with wide open missed threes from Niang, Garland and LeVert. Yet, still we had plenty of opportunities to win if we had just run some semblance of an offense late. In the absence of that, push the pace and don’t allow the Heat to set their defense up. Just awful late game execution

the difference is that exaggerated posters who post exaggerated criticisms of Garland are criticizing Garland.

whereas posters who criticize other fans for somehow succumbing to "groupthink" are criticizing fans.

it's impossible to moderate game threads if we are looking to stamp out exaggerated criticisms of players. but i am sensitive to criticisms of other fans as if somehow they don't think.

it's impossible to convince everyone that we are on the same side in terms of strategy but we do (almost all, not all) share wanting the team to succeed, and mods will push back sometimes against what we feel are unfair posts directed against other posters. we can't do that in every thread or in every case, lol, but it happens in game threads re: JBB and re: certain players.
Guess I’ll just stay out of the game threads from now on if my post was that serious. Goodbye everyone. Go Cavs

Fans that are uber positive at this point either live the life of riley and are fair weather fans and thats aok. The alternative is they are young LBJ fans and fully embraced the Cavs ever since, without suffering Cleveland sports along the way. Thats ok too just dont call out our fans that have to endure this over and over and over and over again
I am remaining positive and thoroughly enjoying this season. 13 games left and they need to win 7 more games to get to 50, which is certainly doable. 50 wins this year would be incredible given the circumstances that has happened this season. Then anything can happen in the playoffs.

Some CPJ should have got the chance to get the ball moving during
the last 5 minutes.

Too damn much dribbling kills momentum .

Ok I had to Google that “Life of Riley” reference so I will admit you must be older than me, but this mindset is ridiculous.

First of all, I don’t see any Uber positive motherfuckers in this place. Especially after a loss, its majority the same complaints over and over. I think it’s fair to push back on overly critical fans especially when there are so many fingers that could be pointed tonight. I don’t put this one on Garland at all but he’s the whipping boy. He’s not playing at a max level right now but I’m rooting for him and winning matters more than arbitrary statistical thresholds.

If you “live and die” by this team, please touch grass. If you’re a Cleveland fan you should realize how much worse things can be and try to appreciate what we have here, imperfect as it is. Only one team in thirty gets the chip.
While there was a TV and radio show called the Life of Riley, there’s an awesome song by The Lightning Seeds

Herro, Bam, Robinson, Richardson and Love is a bigger loss to a team than Mitchell, Strus, Mobley, Wade and Jerome.

At worst it’s a wash. But Miamis got much better and more important players hurt outside of Mitchell IMO.
We were missing Mitchell. No it's not a bigger loss to the heat.

I wish I felt this way. After the win streak and the changed style of play, I just can’t look back and be happy that they underachieved as soon as they got healthy again.

I was right there ready to worship JB and admit he’d changed his ways and was evolving into a great head coach. Then he just pissed it all away and went back to sucking out the fun.

William Bendix, AKA Riley, also portrayed Babe Ruth in a movie.

I'm begging you to read the last 2 minute play by play at this point.

Pointing out the complaints are dumb is fine. But there is a lot of behavior in this year's game threads that suggest posters who feel that people you don't agree with are dumb or unobservant. That is not okay.

I don't like to ban people because of game thread behavior, but there is not one way to be a fan. We are actually on the same side.

"Groupthink" is insulting fans, not saying a particular complaint is dumb.

This “not ok” language makes me think of a schoolmarm or particularly annoying HR person. People are adults here and should be able to take some back and forth in a passionate game thread. Over policing can be just as bad as under policing

Again, changed style of play with non b/b, a lot of days off and struggling teams. Even that seemed to much physically, Mitchell and Strus were gassed. Never underestimate the loss of Strus. It was huge.

Miami scored on their last 5 possessions, mostly at the hands of Rozier- who did not
get ICED.

By the time Mitchell and Strus's knees are ready to go we're gonna have more sore knees ready to take a break.
