2009-2010 Pre-Season Game 3 VS Olympiacos B.C.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Relax man. You're obviously a legit fan... Nobody's questioning that. I'm just givin' you a hard time cause, well, if you're going to bring a boatload o' crazy to this site, you're gonna get a boatload o' flack for it (ie: Delonte's not at practice so.... Let's rally outside his house. Or, Mo's sitting out to rest his groin so.... Dude, he better not have needed surgery!)

I guess the thing you gotta get used to here is there's a lot of ribbing and back-and-forth. You'll catch the lay of the land eventually, and fit into the kind of conversation that goes down here.

It's all good man. Relax. :wiggle:

Thank you for the post, and sorry I acted the way I did. It's nice that you recognize the type of fan that I am, and that's why I react the way I do when it comes to sports, especially being a Cleveland fan. I think I'm just tired of the letdown, after letdown... We all are... And finally when the Cavs seem to get it right and we make some great offseason acquisitions, we start off with a few mishaps. (Delonte, Mo's groin for whatever that's worth, Danny Green, Anderson with back spasms) Plus we all have to maintain our cool when the Cavs season will be overshadowed with LeBron and the free agency. Shaq and LeBron coexisiting. Z maybe retiring. Delonte's legal consequences after the court date. The media will be all over Cleveland this year for positive and negative reasons. As a fan, I can honestly admit this is the first season I've felt overwhelmed. It's an odd feeling... I feel as if I personally have a lot at stake, like everything is on the line, when in reality I'm not part of the team, I'm just another fan along for the ride.

P.S. You do know I didn't actually camp outside of Delonte's place right? :chuckles:

That can't be further from where I stand. I am freakin' jacked up for this season to start!! I'm going to be throwin' down on fisher price right along with Shaq baby!

7:00pm EST.

I heard Mo was really riding Green hard in practice.

I heard a hockey team had the same problem

Since we are playing against them small "unathletic" greeks :chuckles:
How about a LeBron,Parker,Moon,JJ,Shaq lineup?

I was planning to give you a scouting report on Olympiacos but it's midnight and I'm still stuck at the office  so I'll just offer a few pointers on players to watch:

Sofoclis Schortsanites

Baby Shaq has been battling weight problems for years but this season he appears to be somewhat in shape and resembles more and more the palyer who helped Greece defeat the US Team in in 2006. He's huge so he practivally steam rolls over almost everyone in European games but that won't work with Shaq. He's pretty agile for his size and finishes strong around the basket. He has no finesse post-up moves and is a terrible free throw shooter (it's hard to work on your game when you spend months in Swiss weight clinics). The Clippers have his draft rights.

Milos Teodosic

Touted as a huge talent a couple of years back, Teodosic has spent the last two seasons in and out of Coach Yiannakis' doghouse. However, he put on a great display in last month's European Championship where he lead Serbia to an unexpected appearance in the Final and was voted best PG of the tournament. Has great court vision and can shoot the European 3-pointer. Can't imagine how he's gonna stay in front of Mo.

Yiannis Bouroussis

Has been mentioned a few times on this board. Long arms, nice jumper, always plays with heart. Has improved vastly during the last 3-4 years, coming from obscurity to gain a place on the national team.

Josh Childress

Another guy whose name has been mentioned quite a lot on this board. He's the highest paid player in Europe although it's hard to see him as franchise player. Hopefully, the addition of Kleiza and Wafer will open up opponent's defenses creating more space for him in the lane.

Linas Kleiza - Von Wafer

you've probably seen them play more than I have

Theodoros Papaloukas

Used to be the best pg in Europe but his game has dropped off recently. Very smart player, below-avg shooter, great size for his position

Patrick Beverley

2nd round draft pick by the Miami Heat. Brought as insurance at the PG position, although I understand that he's more of a scoring guard. He's put on some impressive performances in the pre-season.

Kostas Papanikolaou

Versatile small forward, considered the greatest talent in Greece at the moment. Needs to put on some muscle.

NIcola Vujicic

One of the most versatile bigs in Europe for years, he has been slowed down by age and injuries. I'm sure he'll be glad to see his old teammate in Maccabi, Anthony Parker.

OVerall, I see the Cavs getting an easy win although I hope our boys put up a decent fight and put up a nice showing for the fans. It's great to have your two favourite teams facing off against each other in an exhibition game but sadly, the game won't be broadcasted back in Greece  so I will read all about it in the morning (assuming I get home at some point tonight).
Enjoy the game everyone!

I'm actually kind of looking forward to watching this game. Olympiakos has some decent talent. They have 2 former NBA players we've talked about in Josh Childress and Linas Kleiza.

I also want to get a look at Yiannis Bouroussis the C that both the Cavs and the Spurs were rumored to have interest in this past summer and who might be a name to keep an eye on the next couple of years.

just curious. I'm not at home and can't look right now. Saturday's game wasnt on, but I'm guessing that was just because it was an away preseason game.

Today will be the final pre-season game broadcasted on local television (FSN). Sorry guys, you're going to have to hope to find a streaming link put out via another station for the other games, but good luck finding them.

EDIT - check that. 10/14/09 vs the Wizards will be on NBA TV, and the game on 10/20/09 vs DAL (@ Petersen Events Center - U of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA) will be broadcast on HDnet - so whether or not you get those channels on your TV, those will likely be found online streaming...and if I find a link (atdhe.net is a good source) I will definitely share it here.

Be sure to check it out tonight as the Cavs go against Olympiakos, a team with 8 Greek born players (guys who play for the Greek National team) three Americans, and four other foreign born players.

LeBron has a history with these guys, since Greece upset the USA in the FIBA Worlds, two summers ago in Japan. As a result, Greece won the silver medal and the Americans got the bronze that year, but we know what happened with the Red, White and Blue since.

It will be fun to watch Shaq go against the one they call, "Baby Shaq", 310 pound center, Sofoklis Schortsanitis, the big Greek center had numerous dunks against the US in that contest in '07.

A lot of the Olympiakos players have either been drafted by NBA teams, or have had squads over here, consider taking them. So, the visitors have plenty of talent.

You know Josh Childress, Von Wafer and Linas Kleiza because of their NBA experience. Patrick Beverly is a guy who played for Arkansas, and was drafted this past summer by the Lakers.

For Anthony Parker, this will be fun, since he played with two of the guys for Olympiakos, when they were together winning titles with Maccabi, during AP's 5 year run in Israel.

See you tonight at 7...
