2009 Summer League questions.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So Eyenge may not be a total "stash" candidate afterall?

Exactly. That was just the most obvious reasoning people could come up with at the time the pick was made. I think once Ferry had him, he had no intention of letting anyone other then his people coach and develope him. Having a 'raw' talent is a dream come true for coaches, because they have alot less bad habits from bad coaches.

So Eyenge may not be a total "stash" candidate afterall?

Hard to say. Portland keeps bringing Petteri Koponen to the summer league and then sends him back to Europe.

My take is that it doesn't make much sense for him to stay in Europe unless the Cavs need the roster spot this year.

The Cavs will probably use the summer league as a chance to evaluate him further and to buy time while they see how free agency works out.

I just think in the D-League he will be up against more NBA like bodies, in games that are up to NBA speed. You watch those Europe games and its like mid-major ncaa bodies, running High School offense in slow motion.

I guess the Tractor Trailer summer league experiment is over. :chuckles:

Just an update on other teams. Not sure how reliable the source is, but all the names cant be wrong. Again Ferry seems to like to keep things secret, or procrastinate, you decide.

Douglar, I think you mean Danny Green. Unless Danny Brown got a spot due to some sort of nepotism.

I just found out I'll be out in Vegas from the 12th to the 16th for "business" :chuckles:. I've made it a point to get out to at least one of the Cavs games and it will probably be on the 12th when I get in. Memphis/OKC play before them so I'd like to see Thabeet, Harden, and Young all get some burn before I see the Cavs play. It won't be too exciting since we have no huge youth prospects on the team (Hickson's out), but I will definitely be watching Green and Eyenga.

I imagine I'll provide a little writeup on the mysterious Kid Congo after the game, as well as try and provide some pictures and what not. Just a heads up.

Does anybody know Eyenga(spelling) has a contract overseas? I thought i heard somewhere he was in his last year.

Eyenga is currently a free agent. No contract. And the Cavs drafting him makes it slightly tougher for him to get a contract overseas. He'll have to accept a long contract with a very large buyout figure in order to get playing time.

I'll be at the games on the 16th and 17th.

Former NBA players and undrafted free agents are already filling up the rosters of summer-league squads. Among the bigger names are former Pacer David Harrison, who’s joining the Cleveland Cavaliers

harrison_pacers_v_wizards.jpg

Here is the roster:

Guards:
Maureece Rice - Vet from the Bayhawks who is there to make sure that the kids share the ball once in a while
Tarence Kinsey - giving him one last chance to work on his handle and play making skills

Wings:
Christian Eyenga - not sure if he's going to be here in the fall, but he'll be in Vegas in July
Danny Green- but will he dance?
Jawad Williams - shined in the D-leauge last year.

Front Court:
Darnell Jackson - DBLOCK!!!
David Harrison - an aspiring third string center who just spent a year playing in China
Ivan Harris - another favor to the Bay hawks

Won't be on the Cavs team:
Sasha Kaun - conflict with FIBA games
JJ Hickson - gimpy back disease
Paul Harris - playing for Minnesota
Luke Jackson - playing for Dallas, living the dream
Garret Siler – playing for Minnesota

Lance Allred and Dwayne Jones getting some burn. Some horrible names amongst those teams but a nice trip down scrub/memory lane.

No room for Preldzic?

Or just not available?
