2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Will you guys give this a rest and not waste the moderators time by deleting posts? It may be good practice for IBWT, but for now, it's pointless.

Andy will either be with us for the next 5 years or he won't. 2014 will decide (if he's still around) if he can still contribute. Personally, he may be an injury-prone guy, but by hustling on the court, he's gaining the attention of the young guys who want to win. He's a teacher by example and a great veteran to keep, if he can play. But if he can't, we'll pick up the right guys on the market that can set good role models and examples. Just let management figure that out. They love guys who work hard like Andy, but aren't blind enough to ignore that lack on health.

Right now, we have good position in the draft, an excellent hand to boot (and poker face), and a lot of pieces to use to get the guys they want. This is a long rebuild, so there's no point in typing pointless things (like vague stuff) unless it has solid backing. Be patient and we'll be back at the top soon.

This is what I believe the Cavaliers' draft board looks like:

1. Davis
2. MKG
3. Barnes
4. Beal
5. Robinson
6. Drummond
7. Rivers
8. Waiters
9. Lamb
10. T. Jones

I see the top 6 going like this:

1. Hornets- Davis
2. Bobcats- Robinson
3. Wizards- Beal
4. Cavaliers- MKG
5. Kings- Barnes
6. Blazers- Drummond

If we have a chance to get rid of Anderson Varejao packaged with something else for a lottery pick you do it and don't look back. He's not even that good of a player. He's closer to trash than he is an all star. We would be ripping any team off that gives him high value. Missing out on Anderson Varejao snuggie night won't be that hard guys, trust me.

If you were being sarcastic in your post GREAT JOB! If your were being serious then GREAT JOB! Now I'm the one being sarcastic

It's almost that time of the year where I stop reading the general thread and wait for Wuck to update the draft news thread.

I also see the top 6 of the draft going that way, but I disagree with your top 10 board for the Cavs. I think Beal is ahead of Barnes. All reports I've read indicate that when Beal and Barnes competed in workouts, Beal outperformed Barnes, albeit by a small margin. And I sincerely hope that Austin Rivers is not at #7. Not that it matters for us anyway, but if any team picks him in the top 10 they will be reaching, especially if Lamb is still on the board.

Alright, we can stop talking about trading Varejao:

From Sam The Bullshit Whisperer:

For those asking, NBA sources say Warriors appear to be keeping No. 7 pick. May have floated it briefly, but nothing out there they wanted.

Apparently Rockets would like to move up a bit in the draft (trading Dalembert's favorable contract and #16 for a higher pick). It doesn't seem to apply to the Cavs much at this point. These followups came out after Kyler's:

Jonathan Feigen: On reports of a Dalembert deal, was told "Not happening." Rox would like to move a pick, but also like Sam's contract.

Sam Amick: Source with knowledge of Rockets' strategy says we should slow down on the Dalembert trade talk that was coming from other teams.

I think people are vastly overrating:

1 - What Varejao provides to a rebuilding team. He is a huge asset for a contender, he means almost nothing to a rebuilding team

Completely disagree.

With a group of very young players, Andy's work ethic, hustle, heart, and knowledge of the game (where to be on the court & when, etc) & organization, play a huge role in helping implement the right type of atmosphere for the young core we're looking to build around for the future. His attributes are exactly what you want to instill in your young players right off the bat.

I'm not saying don't trade him at all, but it's silly to think that the things Andy brings to the table would mean "almost nothing" to even a rebuilding team.
