2012 Opening Game Starting Lineup

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think that the Cavs know that we are going to suck so might as well go full-go with dion and see what we got... I bet Byron sits his lazy goofy ass eventually but we do suck so like another poster said we should just get Kyrie and Dion playing together as much as possible to improve

Our depth is sad and while I don't think he should be starting who the hell should he sit behind... CJ???

This is gonna be another long year... But I'm glad we are back

I like this line-up. A crowded front court with no shooting big men in sight is a recipe for tanking. Also, Dion and Kyrie will start building chemistry early on, and Dion will accelerate his growth as a shooting guard. Andy also gets high exposure being a starter and raises his trade value. There is no way Andy is being benched until he is traded. We all know that Zeller should really be starting right now for spacing purposes, but Andy needs his value to be upped until the trade deadline. Besides, Kyrie, Dion, Gee, TT, and Andy running should be a fun game to watch.

Seems like we'll be seeing a lineup change after 10 games...

10 games before Zeller gets in the starting lineup?

I think substituting TT out for Zeller, with the then obvious switch of Andy playing his more natural PF spot would be the most productive lineup.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tristan got benched and not Andy. Again, if the Cavs want to maximize trade value, Andy must start. Otherwise, teams can use Andy's bench role as an argument in decreasing his trade value.

I tend to disagree. It's most likely that the team trading for Andy will want him to come off the bench, so I see no problem with bringing him off the bench here. He'll still play comparable minutes, and his stats will likely be padded a bit, which is good. Plus, potential trade partners will get to see him play both PF and C. I'd much rather see a starting line-up of Thompson and Zeller since they are in our team's future.

Andy was destined to be in any combo of the starting lineups because he provides the experience BS loves, that neither TT nor Zeller has. To trot out 4 guys with one year or less NBA experience, and then another who has less than half season's worth of starts in his NBA career would probably drive Scott to an early grave.

True, but we're going to suck this year either way. We might as well suck with youth and style.

:chuckles:

I hear ya, and all the tankers on this board nod in agreement with you, but I couldn't imagine playing on that team for 82 games. For young guys like KI, Dion, TT, Zeller, etc. they are all used to winning. It's a fine line to toe there. You need them to believe there is hope on the horizon. Too much unnecessary losing can be infuriating. You don't want these guys to stop belieiving in Byron, the FO, and most importantly themselves.

At least if you trade Andy at the deadline, you can justify it by saying you are out of the playoff race. You don't start him now, or trade him while they are still in contention and you have a bunch of young guys questioning the intentions of their organization. As fans, we may be a little more willing/understanding. Players don't necessarily see it that way. They want to win. And if they are in it come deadline time, you better believe they will be pissed if the FO gets rid of one of their best players for nothing but some future draft choices.

Not an envious position to be in for the FO.

I'm not so sure our bench will be that bad. We have size, shootong and a certain amount of ball security in Sloan. My question is whether Leuer or Samuels will play with Zeller in that 2nd unit ....slong with Miles and Casspi ....Sloan or Pargo at PG ....good spread, good shooting, not much run or defense, but they can shoot.
In some ways i don;'t like Andy and TT together as they don't spread the floor ...yea, 10 games then it might be Zeller time ...we'll know more after tomorrows game

I'd even start Leuer and Andy rather than TT and Andy.

It's a stupid move no matter how you look at it and is compounded by the fact that they are now starting Gee as well.

Just a bad, unbalanced lineup.

10 games before Zeller gets in the starting lineup?

It seems the most likely switch but I don't think it's the only possibility if the starters struggle to score.

this lineup (and, well, the team in general) is going to need to get out in transition a lot to be successful. some of these half court sets are going to be very ugly at times

I'm glad too see that Kyrie and Waiters getting into the paint and running into 4 men in the paint wasn't worrisome at all during pre season.. now, we can add Gees man into the equation.

It's quite easy to see that our most effective line up here is going to be Kyrie/Dion/Miles/Varejao/Zeller .. with a closing line up of Kyrie/Dion/Miles/Gee/Varejao. These first couple games are going to be a complete mess in the half court.
