Who do you think the Cavs should go after in free agency? What positions do you think could be addressed best through free agency?

Solid role players for the right price.

Maybe Iggy if we don't draft Porter and he's willing to take a massive pay cut.

I hope they explore trade options. Go after Horford or something, idk.

Besides LeQuit?

I target Iggy, Gay, Granger

I think if there's an option to trade for love, we pull the trigger

We would have to overpay Iggy to come here though, really not worth big money, I'd rather draft Porter this summer

Hell no to Gay in 2014, dude's an inconsistent chucker... Granger would be a better pick up in 2014, but I really hope that we already have a long-term SF solution by then...

Pipe dream, but I would be really interested in Paul Millsap if Speights is gone (Though he probably would cost too much and wants to be a starter)

Any decent player that's willing to accept a 1-year deal?

Nothing at all in free agency. Save, save, save.

F Gee / Miles
F Thompson / Speights
C Varejao / Zeller
G Waiters / Ellington
G Irving / Livingston

That, plus draft picks. Only "free agent" move would be re-signing Livingston if he was reasonable about it. If not... peace out, bro.

Probably no one major this year. But smaller moves like re-signing Livingston if affordable would be good. There's probably some similar smaller deals out there like that worthy of consideration.

Unless...

I have one pipe dream, almost embarrassed to admit it publicly but hell, since this is a 2013 thread and it's late at night, what the fuck: I fantasize about somehow landing Dwight this off-season.

My fantasy goes like this: Dwight decides that LA -- Kobe, the glare of the big city, the Lakers future prospects after Kobe retires--dissuade him from re-signing with the Lakers. His next "logical" choices according to the pundits all have problems. Houston can't actually afford to offer him a max contract. Maybe he and Harden don't get along or Dwight doesn't think much of the rest of the roster. There's some speculation that he doesn't want to play home in Atlanta for just that reason, the pressures and distractions of playing in front of the home town crowd. Plus if he can't lure CP3 (who in my dream stays with the Clips) to ATL with him, their roster is debatable.

So he looks around and sees that Kyrie has just as much potential as Harden, maybe more since the best friend of a center is a great PG. And he looks at our core, all our draft picks, and our ability to give a full max contract (I read that we can but can't confirm this is true) and decides, fuck it, let's move to the small market, less pressure, and I'll be an all-time hero if Kyrie and I win. Plus, as the elder, the Cavs will be his team, something that can't happen in LA with Kobe around.

I think the Cavs will have an aggressive offseason. Tanking, playing not to win, whatever you want to call it, will eventually have a negative impact on the development and growth of a team. As for 2013 FA, I don't see the Cavs making a big spalsh. But I do believe we will be aggressive in adding talent to the roster this summer. Its time to start cashing in on some of our assets and put this team in a position to take the next step forward. If we could somehow snag Jarrett Jack on a 4 year deal, I'd consider that a win. It would solidify the revolving door we have at backup PG and give a veteran to push Kyrie. Its a perfect match and I would love it to happen.

If we can land Iggy for around 10 millions per year (3 years), I would do that in a heartbeat. Our D will be 50% stronger with him. We will still have cap room for our players, because it's 3 year deal, but it's probably unreal, because Iggy will want something around max contract. Next players who could be good addition (for reasonable contracts) are: Andrei Kirilenko, Tony Allen, M. Dunleavy, Jose Calderon, Aminu, Daye, Xavier Henry and Dorell Wright. Probably Henry, Aminu and Daye are only players who could sign here.

I would love to get Dwight it would make me feel a lot more comfortable using our draft pick on a SF. I also think we'd probably be around 11th on his list of franchises he would play for so chances slim. I'm sure there are more people on here that are against just the thought of it but if we are blessed with God's grace and Dwight did choose Cleveland no hesitations cause I think the skill/court presence way out weighs the mental headcase tag he's been labeled with. I would think LeBron haters would love getting Dwight cause it definitely puts a stop to a LeBron/Cleveland reunion. I personally would love LeBron back but if they are really planning to not go after him this franchise better stop approaching this like pussies, spend some money, and put the pedal to the metal. I want to retain Byron and not see him join another team with a little more experience win tons of games and sit there thinking not only did we lose a good coach but were preparing ourselves for a locker room disaster. Think about it the only players who matter on this team or have a future with the team consider Byron like a father figure. So lets not get rid of the father figure yet, I would like to see him get 2 more years unless next year is just an absolute train wreck. Let the chemistry have a chance to build, our team this year was filled with half players who've been together for a year just 1 year and the other half new to the roster so the expectations should of been a pile of horse shit (especially once the injuries started popping up early)

Iggy is nowhere near a max player. This isn't 2007. And even then, he wasn't a max player. It would be ridiculous for him to demand that kind of money.

Agreed, I think they Cavs will be aggressive in acquiring more talent on the roster. I think significant additions are going to come via trade rather than free agency.

But i was read somewhere that he will opt out for bigger money than he is getting right now in Denver.

Iguodala would be a great pickup but he isn't going to give up $16 million

Irving/Livingston
Waiters/Ellington
Iguodala/Porter
Thompson/?Speights
Varejao/Zeller/?Oden

Defense would improve without Scott having to say anything but there would be no shooting threat besides Kyrie
