2013 Cavs Free Agent Targets

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If the 2014 1st round pick is worth anywhere near as much as people here are implying it does, then we should be able to get a really nice piece by trading it.

There is a small list of assets that I would consider trading that pick for.

A pick in this year's draft is not one of them.

A high lottery selection next year (Top 4-5) is a potential game changer unlike any other year since 2003.

For all the concern about ball dominant players being a bad fit, there is a vocal sect of the Warriors fan base who are sick of Jarret Jack pounding the air out of the ball this season. He has been scapegoat du jour in the playoff losses.

Windy on WKNR this morning:

-Wade has been hurt for 2 months and has missed a lot of games because of his knee. Now it looks like if he will get back to where he was at the beginning of the year. There isn't much you can do about it, you need to rest it to heal. He is having the worst playoff series of his career. The Heat can get through the East without him because the East is weak. His knee isn't healing. This is a negative development for the Heat.

-The lone team the Heat don't want to play in the playoffs are the Memphis Grizzlies because they are so big. The Heat don't have the personnel to match up with the Grizzlies. Memphis has played with a lot of confidence against the Spurs and the Heat will need D-Wade to improve a lot.

-The Pacers have something going on as they are the best defensive and rebounding team in the NBA. Indiana cant score but they match up well with the Knicks. Roy Hibbert and Paul George are playing very well right now. He thinks George will get a max contract because of his defense. The Knicks finished the season strong but are depending too much on the outside shot. When the outside shot goes south, things go bad. Jason Kidd hasn't made a shot in 7 games and the team has not played well.

-The Pacers/Knicks series has been ugly and the most recent game was one of the ugliest he has ever seen. The East is very bad right now.

-LBJ talking about his elbow last night was the most he ever spoke of it ever. No one talked about in 2010. It was shunned in 2011 during the playoffs. The elbow may not have been the main cause of him playing bad but Windy thinks its ridiculous to think he faked the injury. He said LBJ was going through a lot of mental issues during 2010 that took him years to overcome.

-Windy thinks the Grizzlies are the best match up vs. the Heat. They are a bruising team and they had 3 players named to the All-Defense team. They are one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA (Mike Conley is their best shooter).

-Windy would probably pick the Heat in 6 versus Indiana but Wade's injury is a concern. The Pacers are playing well now. They have a system where perimeter players are running guys off the dribble and funneling them to their big men. He doesn't think the Pacers will be able to score enough but if someone on the Heat goes into a slump they could lose.

-If the Cavs got the #1 pick Windy believe they would take Nerlens Noel because he is a big man in a bad draft class. The Cavs have been unlucky that the last 3 years the Cavs have had a high draft pick but weak draft classes. The draft two years ago had one surprise in Klay Thompson. It has been a rotten time to go through the draft but the Cavs got the best player in those 3 drafts. Windy was quite disappointing in Kyrie in the last month of the season. He believes he will be a top 10 player in the league. The Cavs plan was to add young superstars with a top 5 pick.

-Next years draft class is expected to be one of the best in a decade but the Cavs are dead set on trying to make the playoffs, which they should try to do. Windy watched highlights of Andrew Wiggins and he says he is amazing. His athleticism is amazing and Windy believes he is a better athlete at his age (not the size) than LBJ was.

-The Cavs didnt have a good team last year but they weren't tanking. Usually GM's in the NBA have differing opinions on the trade deadline etc., everyone Windy has talked to (dozens of people) in the NBA say that this is an awful draft.

Please feel free to add anything else.

Thanks!

The east is piss poor.

If this team can't make the playoffs (even as an 8th seed) in Kyrie's 3rd year with 6 recent top 20 1st round picks then our players aren't as good as we think they are.

The tank is in the past, it is winning time now.

I agree. I don't think we should tank for the pick, but I also think this team has to prove it can actually win some games.
