They could also use a QB who doesn't need superior offensive talent to mask his atrocious deficiencies.
I don't think Weeden needs superior offensive talent to help him succeed, but I do believe he needs something better than Greg Little as his No.1 receiver.
Weeden isn't Tom Brady, or Drew Brees, or Peyton Manning, etc. But he's definitely not as bad as some people are making him out to be. Terrible first game after a pretty solid preseason, but with the Browns missing key guys on offense Weeden wasn't put into a position to succeed as some may think. (Yes, we've heard this before..)
The offensive line was brutal Sunday. Not just Cousins, the entire line struggled to keep Weeden safe. I watched Weeden scramble out of the pocket WAY too many times against Miami, and for a pocket passer that just can't happen.
I thought Weeden made some good reads, and yes he made a few bad decisions.. But he didn't cost the Browns this game by himself. The entire offense outside of Cameron laid a complete egg. Trent Richardson needs at least 22 carries a game, and it blew my mind to why Norv Turner and Chud decided to air it out that many times when the game was still a one score game up until late in the 4th quarter.
I really can't judge Weeden's second year until he gets his No.1 receiver back in week 3 and hopefully a healthy offensive line to boot. I don't think he is the answer for the future, but for a season or two until the Browns do find their guy? Definitely.
