2013 Cleveland Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hard for Weeden to make a good read when the guy still stares down every single pass.

Hard for Weeden to make a good pass when he doesnt grasp what "touch" is.

How for Weeden to be protected in the pocket when he has no clue how to move around in the pocket to help himself. He didnt start to get hit until we stopped running the ball.

Weeden is as bad as we are making him out to be. You cant have a solid pre-season, that is an oxymoron for a QB. Anything less than great is terrible. You do realize they dont play real defense in the pre-season right? The first two games were a joke. The dress rehearsal and the first game of this season are direct reflections of how good Weeden is.

It's too bad that they will make getting T-Rich the ball more a prority next week against The Ravens run defense

Not any of those guys, but I'd have traded him for Peyton Manning who turned 24 right after that season.

Amidst all the Weeden/Warner comparison, I'm not sure how this got missed.

How did Mark Sanchez turn into Peyton Manning in this comparison game?

What? I was just going with what QB that was 4 years younger than Kurt Warner would I have traded him for. I never said Sanchez was Peyton Manning. Hell, for as bad as I think Sanchez is, he's way, way better than at least half of those guys on that list.

If you're going to try and criticize me for bringing up Manning, how did Weeden turn into Kurt Warner? Weeden's sure as shit not winning MVP this year.

Fuck it, do it live.

Sign Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens and Randy Moss.

Trent Richardson likes to compare himself to Emmitt Smith. I just wish he would perform like Smith on the field and not like Smith on “Dancing with the Stars.” – Ed Stagl, Berea

From Bud Shaw's article today. I found it funny and wanted to share because I agree.

We can make exactly zero judgement on Trent's performance behind this joke of an offensive line. I was at the game, and fans were absolutely stunned at the job our O-line was doing. Trent was staring at a wall of defenders immediately after receiving the hand off. I felt bad for the guy.

I think he'd be an awesome RB with a serviceable offensive line. I almost want to trade him to another team to give him that chance...I seriously feel like we're robbing the NFL of a Pro Bowl caliber RB right now.

The O-Line had one of the worst days an O-Line could have. That being said, it's actually a very good line. Thomas is an All-Pro LT. Mack is a Pro Bowler. Schwartz, as awful as he was Sunday, has a chance to be pretty good. Greco has been highly rated as an OLineman, granted in a reserve role, for years and this is his first chance to start. The only true weak spot is RG where Cousins is the 3rd stringer guy who was forced to start. Our line will be fine this year, I'm not worried about that. They had a bad game.

With Richardson, doubt is creaping into my mind. He's a talented guy and he gets in the endzone but man, he's gotta be more decisive on his runs between the tackles. Kiley and Booms, as awful as they are, use a funny sound bite and call him Dig Dug because he dances east and west instead of going north and south. The guy needs to run forward instead of waiting for the perfect hole. Can he come out and be a beast the rest of his career, absolutely. I'm not throwing in the towel with him. I just want him to realize he can't dance that much, he needs to follow his blockers and run hard through the hole.

As if no RB has ever made a sub-standard offensive line look good. Walter Payton didn't have a single Pro Bowl linemen in front of him the first ten years of his career. And how many good o-lines did Steven Jackson have in front of him in St. Louis?

If T-Rich needs a great offensive line in front of him to be productive, he isn't a franchise back and wasn't worth a top-five pick to begin with. And if he isn't getting holes, that's all the more reason for him to stop dancing and get what he can. He isn't Barry Sanders or Gale Sayers. He needs to quit fucking around, stick his foot in the ground and get downhill.

It's funny to me that you mention Barry Sanders since he is the all time NFL leader for negative yardage from the line of scrimmage

Sanders line was not as bad as advertised either, Lomas Brown was pro bowler, so was Kevin Glover. At one point Brown and Glover were pro bowlers in the same year.

Ray Roberts was pretty good, Jeff Hartings was a pro bowler 2x, Cory Schlesinger was on another level as a lead blocker from the fullback spot during the back of Sanders career. Those three were all on the same team as Gllover

I would say the biggest issue was personnel playing out of position. Without Josh Gordon, the receivers are stacked all wrong. Mitchell Schwartz was trying to block one of the best pass rushers in the league while trying to cover up for Oniel Cousins on the inside, receiving no other help because we have no blocking TE and our change-of-pace back the last few seasons is trying to pose as a FB. You normally run off the right side, we have no run blockers. Defense keys on TRich anyway, but the pass rush is so devastating due to the inability to mount any defense against it, you have no time to throw the ball.

Even when Lauvao comes back he's not that strong of a run blocker, but he's more competent than Cousins. If we had a TE and/or an actual FB, you could put 1.5 blockers on Wake instead of most of one and a screen door. If you could run the ball, you could make Wake respect the run and he wouldn't go all out for the QB on every play. I really think if you find a way to give Weeden time, he'll settle down. When he's calm, he's got the arm to make some big time plays. When he's amped up, everything is scattershot. Ideally you want a Qb that never gets rattled no matter what, but we dont have that, so at least try to get him comfortable.

Apparently there are no FBs, run blocking guards, blocking TEs available anywhere.. despite them being a dime a dozen.
