2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Solomon Thomas is available at 12, and this organization passes on him, they will regret it for many many years.

He's a Top 5 talent, IMO.

Are the Cleveland Browns in love with a quarterback?

That's the feeling many around the NFL have this week. I've spoken to multiple scouts, one general manager and even a prominent trainer who have all been told the Browns are enamored with Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson—but not at No. 1 overall.

The Browns have two picks in the first round—the first one and then Philadelphia's pick at No. 12 as part of last year's Carson Wentz trade. It's with their second pick in Round 1 that my sources believe the Browns would like to see Watson available.

Following a big national championship game, and with three years of starts under his belt, Watson may represent the type of quarterback the Browns didn't see in last year's class when they traded away the right to select Wentz at No. 2 after the Los Angeles Rams plucked Jared Goff off the board. Will Watson's cool-headedness, big-game accuracy and running ability sell the front office on his skills?

There are still three months left in this process, but early infatuation with prospects generally stays. It was last year at this time when I reported the Rams liked Goff. The Browns may not have to trade up to get their guy if it's Watson.

Quite literally what most of us have been speculating the last couple weeks now.

Honestly I am not sure if Watson is actually a first round talent. Now if he is available at 33 I will have no qualms with getting him, but I'd rather see us trade pick 52 with pick 12 and trade up to get Hooker/Adams than get Watson. We need to fix our defense and OLine so we can keep a QB healthy and next year's QB is better. Now who would you guys take a chance on like day 3 when it comes to QB?

The first time Miller is right about something, will be the first time...

Good smokescreen if all three originated from the Browns. If not it's just all conjecture from draft columnists in need for filler in January.

Even though I agree, Watson is not a first round talent compared to other drafts, team needs in the NFL will determine where he lands in the draft. It's so much easier to draft a QB now in the draft with no financial burden, unlike in years past.

With this FO, I doubt we trade up also. The good teams seemingly never do, let the talent fall to you and don't waste draft capital.

I am doubting the trade up as well, but it's possible we do in this season. I think the have a chart set up if this player is available at this pick then we trade up, but if this player is taken at this pick then we trade down. That is their mentality I am pretty sure in the draft so if a player they want falls to a certain spot they will make the move.

How are people thinking Watson will do in the weiner dog race?
