Darnold...

The 2018 QB class...

Damn...

Depending on where we finish, maybe we could trade up for him or another QB. I doubt we have a top 2 pick next season

Browns will have a top 2 pick next year.
There is no reason they should be. They have all the tools to improve the roster in the next 4-5 months. Top 10 -12 is likely though.

You have to think there's too much raw talent in next year's QB class for no one to take the next step next season.

Kessler or Tyrod as a bridge, slay this draft and avoid the QBs, add a key guy or two via FA, and then be prepared to do whatever it takes to secure your favorite QB in next year's draft.

It seems like every year we say something like this. Outside of 1 or 2 guys we don't have a shot at, next year's crop is going to be awesome. Only this year there aren't even 1 or 2 guys.

I still believe in Kizer for this class. Trubisky will be solid but unspectacular. Watson is a real wild card, he could be deadly in the NFL or he could be a total bust. The rest dont really excite me.

Next year does look like a 2013esque QB class.

Kizer has questionable accuracy, that is something that Jackson values very highly. I doubt the Browns seriously consider him at 1 and he'll likely be gone by 12.

AJ McCarron may request trade from Bengals if he hasn't already. Would that be worth a 3rd/4th rounder over what's in the draft this year?

Where do you fall on the traditional vs PFF scouting argument on Cam Robinson? Seems like there's a huge gap between the traditional scouting guys who love him because of his insane measureables, while the PFF guys don't like his production (lots of penalties, bunch of sacks given up).

PFF is solely a production grade.

They'll value guys like Baker Mayfield higher than others because the kid is a collegiate producer who wins matchups at that level.

The NFL is an entirely different ballgame, it's projection wrapped up in production and other variables. PFF cannot possibly account for projection in their grading, so we can't definitively use that tool in a vacuum to predict NFL ability.

You have to wrap up the sum of all parts when grading a prospect, and looking at Cam Robinson you know he's obviously not a finished product, but his size and strength combination is absolutely on par with an elite level prospect.

Sort of draft related but did anyone catch that presser yesterday where the media person (I think Grossi) was already saying how is this 1-15 going to be different from next years 1-15?

Legit :chuckle:'d at that line. How dense are they that they are already writing off the Browns in 2017 90 minutes after the 2016 season closed?

Is there anyway we can get ahold of the solid beat writers like Ulrich and get some better questions asked so hopefully these other clowns are forced to step their game up?

This is sort of funny. We are going to add talent to this team, a year more experience for the youngest team in football, and they think 1-15 is going to happen again. The browns found a way to lose at-least 3-4 games this year they should have won. The two biggest, are the missed FG to beat Baltimore, and we should have beat Pittsburgh this last week. I think with a good draft and a few key FA pick ups we could be a 4-5 win team easy, maybe 5-6 if everyone jells.
