2018 NFL SEASON Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Imagine being a fan of any Boston team and thinking anyone is out to get you. Ridiculous.

Go watch the SB last year the bobbled td catch which they ruled a TD and Foles catch which was an illegal formation. That’s 14 points right there

C'mon man. The "refs having it out for the Patriots" is almost as lame as the "Brady isn't GOAT" takes.
Also, Brady deflated those balls.

Also, it's laughable that the Patriots keep trying to play up this whole "underdog" and "nobody believed in us" thing.

Dude, you've won five Super Bowls, have appeared in three in a row, and have been in eight straight AFC title games.

Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit. You're not endearing yourselves to anyone outside of New England. In fact, it makes the rest of us hate you that much more.

Hoooly shit, Gurley actually posted this on IG. :celb (13):

How many Super Bowls, hell, how many playoff games have Cassel, Jimmy G, Brisset, and Hoyer won for New England? While you are at it, how many offensive play calls has Belichick called during his career in New England?

New England does not have a system offense. Brady has succeeded in a traditional spread, air raid, pro-style, run-and-shoot, and hybrid schemes. I just do not understand the "system QB" point because he has succeeded in New England unlike any other QB and because the Patriots do not have a set offensive system.

Well it seems like whoever you plug in there does pretty well and elevates their play. The Patriots also play in one of the worst divisions in the last 20 years (Jets, Bills, Dolphins) which has certainly helped their case and led to multiple first round byes. Throw in the fact that you have two SBs with asterisks, (Rams walkthrough, Deflate-gate), another one given to them by Pete Carroll, and another by ATL collapsing, and you get down to one legitimate title against the Eagles and McNabb. He is a very good and consistent QB, but I still don't think he is in a GOAT tier by himself.

Alshon Jeffery was close enough to line and even checked in with the sideline referee to make sure he was in the right position.

"They're out to get the Patriots!" :chuckle:

So, here's something else about the blown call that got me thinking (although not related to bad officiating)

Say they did make the correct call and call PI. Saints have the ball 1st and goal at the 5 with about 1:45 left. LA has 1 timeout. If you're Sean Payton, how do you play that?

I would've taken 3 knees (assuming LA uses their TO), using one of them to center the ball, run the clock down to 5 seconds and then tried a ~23 yd FG on the last play. FG under 30 yards at least ~95% successful. And if he misses, it's OT, where you're 50-50. So that strategy gives you like a 98% chance to win

But, I feel like a lot of people would've tried for a TD. But if you score too early, LA gets a shot to tie. Or worse, you throw an incomplete pass or 2, settle for a FG, and the Rams have time to tie or win with a TD. You're still likely wo win, but not as much as 3 knees, IMO.

Our QB won the Heisman Trophy and was the first pick in the draft and he plays that card like it's going out of style. I'm just saying.

Mangini did that exact thing in a game against the Dolphins in 2010. Got 1st-and-goal inside the five, took three knees and kicked the game-winning FG.

Again, guys like Cassel, Jimmy G, Jacoby Brisset, and Hoyer have looked good at QB for New England. It's no surprise an actual good QB would look like the GOAT there.

Brady is not the GOAT. But Bill B is the GOAT. Brady is a sixth round pick who fell into the greatest situation of all time. He couldn't even beat out Drew Henson in college. He isn't the GOAT.

Rams by a touchdown.

None of them has ever, ever, looked even remotely as good as Brady. Just stop.

Jimmy G looks like he is actually good. Didn't realize he stunk

This is a no brainer. You knee three times and kick the FG and win the game.

Alternatively, if you wanted to kick the FG at the buzzer, you could handoff 3 times in order to use more clock...just don't run out of bounds or in the endzone.
