2019 Cleveland Browns Regular Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This game reminded me of the first home game in 2014 against the Knicks.

All the hype and drama of the off-season culminating into a total zero of a game. An ugly reminder of why they actually play games rather than anointing the chosen victor of the season.

Hopefully, the end result of this season, and its first ass let-down game, is as good as it was for the Cavs in 2014-15 (but winning the title).

The Titans beat the Patriots last year 34-10.

With that said, I think our O-Line is beyond repair but I guess we’ll see.
I know we looked like the worst team that ever existed today. But, I think we should try to walk off the ledge a little bit.

Before we declare this team another typical shitty Browns team.

The Chiefs once beat the Pats 41-14. And the Pats went on to win it all that season.

I'm not saying we're the Patriots. I'm not saying there isn't legit concern, and we should cool off the hype right now.

But everyone can have a real clucker.

We shot ourselves in the foot a lot today. And you can't win like that.

That being said, there are serious concerns. One being that line.

We'll see. Today, just flat out wasn't good. I still think there's too much talent on this team to just literally shit the bed, and be another shitty Browns team.

We sucked today. But luckily it counts as just one loss.

Those games were both road games for the Pats, though.

If we want to look at Pats analogies, I'd be more apt with using the 2001 slow-start for the Pats, which yes, included some non-Brady games, but also some Brady ones and home losses, and had them at 0-2, 1-3, 3-4 and 5-5 before the rest was history.

Yeah that was really the vibe.

Stunned I didn't see Spike Lee running around in Titans gear barking (mockingly) at our fans, Baker.

Do the Dolphins have any decent lineman?

Some stats I found interesting:

Baker time to throw from snap:

Last year: 2.79
Today: 2.82

So it’s not as if Baker was holding the ball longer than he did last year which was causing the increased pressure

Nick Chubb faced ZERO 8 man boxes today

The Titans played pass all game long and we played right into their hands. Run. The. Ball.

To add on this. Nick Chubb should be getting 20-25 carries a game. I think some of that was Hillard going out early, plus playing with only 5 lineman. Either way you gotta roll the dice and run the freaking football.
As for lineman... Hubbard is trash. They need to trade for Trent Williams yesterday and move g rob to rt. I actually thought the interior lineman played pretty decent today

Honestly, that's the exact vibe (and fear) that I had going into this game.

Really hope they're able to clean this up ahead of Monday. Both teams are going to be out there with something to prove. I know Freddie's talking the talk about not changing stuff, being worried, etc. but I hope to God he ripped into those guys behind closed doors. That shit was inexcusable today. I could have dealt with a loss if not for the 18 penalties and 3 turnovers.

I think they held back Chubb's carries because the untested depth behind him. Hillard has had his moments but he isn't anywhere close to as experience as Duke Johnson was being a #2 RB. They really had the luxury of knowing that Duke could come in and carry the load if need be. I just don't think they have that comfort with Hillard or D'Ernest Johnson.

I don't know what the thinking was with this o-line and putting so much on Baker to throw the ball. It only compounds the issue that Duke being our best pass blocking RB was traded. I have no clue what Dorsey sees in Demetrius Harris, he just looks like a overall bad TE. We also don't have a full back or H-back since they let Devalve go. Basically where is the blocking suppose to come from?

It's another workable comparison.

But individual NBA games, albeit not 7-game series, have quite a bit more variance arguably, than individual NFL games.

That Cavs team went on to finish their round-robin with the Bulls and Knicks at 1-1, just like the others did; the Bulls were arguably the 2nd best team in the East as they went on to be one errant Blatt near-timeout away from taking a 3-1 lead on the Cavs, even if IMHO they would've still blown that lead.

Whereas I'm really not feeling all that confident about the coming Jets game...

Punting the preseason looks like a mistake in hindsight. So many new pieces and a QB who is still young. This looked like a completely unprepared team. Sure, it's one game, but you only play 16. I think no playoffs this year is a failure and we are immediately up against the wall with a MNF road game and a date with the NFC champs looming.

Getting away from the run, inability to cover TEs, getting ravaged by screens. These things happen every year. Clockwork.

Big time pressure on the coaching staff this week. Honeymoon is already over. All the hype and emotion due to expectations is going to turn nasty in a hurry.

There is game film available at how this team should play. It was clear as day as to what did and didn't work for this offense. If Kitchens, Monken and others cannot see it, then maybe they shouldn't be coaching.

But I'm confident they will get it fixed. Having Baker stand all day in the pocket waiting for complicated routes to develop is a terrible idea. Monken did have this same problem in Tampa, but damn, I thought Kitchens would combine the best of both worlds. Instead, we got this frankenstein offense that doesn't benefit anyone.

Fix this shit. And maybe don't act like a couple of spoiled children on the field too. That Robinson ejection was the most embarrassed I've been to root for the Browns, and that says a lot. I cannot wait to replace him if that's the type of dumb shit he is going to do.
