2019 Cleveland Browns Regular Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hard to believe Greg Robinson didn’t work out after he’d proven for years not to be capable enough.

If this year means anything, it should serve as a lesson to people who jumped on some of these guys after a small sample size against mostly poor competition.

Believing Greg Robinson could go a full season at LT was an enormous risk.

But Kendall Lamm is a stahlwart? Robinson isn’t the long term answer, but unless we’re trading for someone else I don’t see a better answer on the team.

To further elaborate, Joe Banner made a good point that some GMs focus on weapons (CBs/WRs/RBs) while others focus on the trenches (OL/DL/pass rush). Dorsey has shown that he focuses on the former, along with teams like the Rams. The Eagles (where Banner is from), focused on the latter. Dorsey seemed to think the play of the QB/WR would mask the issues on the OL. Obviously, this hasn't been the case in 2019.

But Robinson hasn’t been bad and is far from the weak link on the line

he’s not a world beater but he’s not Oniel Cousins. He’s been serviceable and far better than Hubbard

I was baffled when Dorsey wasn't aggressive in creating tackle competition. Lamm is a depth signing and I thought it was a good move for a swing tackle backup, but only if there was true competition at one of the other positions from a highly drafted player or a starting quality free agent.

It's also important to remember Dorsey had a dog shit roster to work with before taking the job. The talent level turnaround in two seasons has never been accomplished with the Browns since Ernie Accorsi walked the mean streets of Barea, festooned with a toupee and pinstriped suit. This offseason has to prioritize an upgrade.

Joe Banner is one of the worst things to happen to this franchise and that’s really saying something

im not even a huge Dorsey guy but he’s been thousands of times better than that fucking snake Banner

Freddie on the hot seat

If this is true, I’d have to think Dorsey has next year to prove himself or he’s out, too. He did hire Freddie after all.

Realistically they have waaaay too much money invested in the WR spot considering the issues on the line, but I’m not sure how you break up OBJ and Landry and keep the other happy.

I’ve been as tough a critic on Kitchens as anybody but I don’t buy the “Freddie was close to being fired” rumor unless that was an order that came directly from Haslam.

Given Haslam’s history we can’t completely discount it, but I don’t see Dorsey going along with that move without resigning himself.
