I've never actually had a Hawaiian pizza, not because it sounds gross, but because I'd always prefer something else. The ham is a bigger detractor than the pineapple, quite a few meat toppings I'd choose over ham.
Ham isn't bad. I mean Hawaiian pizza is common, obviously there are fancy meats at the fancy places, but if ordering an ordinary pizza, ham is not a bad option. Peperoni is always best for common meats, but Sausage can be a risk, either home run or gives you the runs.
But when available, prosciutto crudo is my favorite topping. There is this incredible wood fire place in Scottsdale with incredible prosciutto. And there hot sopressata is pretty awesome too.
