2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This kid is as talented as they come.

Let’s hope going #30, he comes in hungry to prove some people wrong. We have a great developmental coaching staff—the resources are all in place for him to take advantage.

Get a little Cleveland versus the world going with him might be what the doctor ordered.

Bunch of people in here jerking KPJ after dogging him the whole time before the draft.

You were jerking him to go at #5. We were dogging him at #5.

We just got him at #30. That’s a difference.

I thought we should get him with Miami's pick, so I am psyched we got him at 30. I really don't think he is a bad shooter. I think he has terrible shot selection. Both are hard to fix, but we saw both Cedi and Sexton do much better with that, and it is one of Beilein's strengths. Porter Jrs trajectory is totally based on whether he is coachable or not, and the Cavs seem to think he is.

I thought the same too and am very ecstatic to get him at 30. Thought number of teams would take him. I also believe his character issues are not bad as it sounds. USC basketball program is not really that great compared to its football program and I do not believe they did a great job coaching him and the team. As you mentioned, Beilein’s strengths should be able to fix Porter and I believe Koby is bringing the right people to complement this.

I don't see anyone losing their shit over him. It's still highly unlikely that he ever makes it in the NBA. But for giving up a bunch of nothing, he's worth a scratch off lotto ticket, I guess.

The guy is a good athlete and has decent ability, but his flaws are glaring.

#5 what the fuck lolllll

I said he’s going to go late in the lotto, and people will look back and say “this dude should’ve gone higher”

I think he’s going to be great

A lenghty 2 to help us with our shortage of size at the guard position with Garland and Sexton. Besides that he can surely shoot the rock and put it on the ground. Great pick at 30 . If he gets something like JR on our title runs with lebron at 30 i guess he did very good here
