Couple notes at this point about guys you probably don't hear a lot about throughout the season who have caught my eye.
Robert Broom: I think he has been talked about in here before because he is a sidearmer. But his stuff has been up this year. Sidearm is already tough to pick up, but when his stuff is getting up to 93/94 from that angle it makes him that much better. He's been very impressive, reason why is already in AA after being drafted last year. Not the biggest fan of sidearmers when they are more gimmicky, but he has the stuff regardless of mechanics.
Cody Morris: If he can stay healthy, this is our next Zach Plesac "where did he come from?" starter. Very similar pitching style to Plesac, mid 90s fastball, good change, doesn't walk a lot of people. Should start the year in AA next season as a 23 year old.
Jose Fermin: As if the Indians don't already have enough quality middle infielders in their system, Fermin has caught my eye a lot this year. Dude can really play a good SS and 2B, has a ton of range. He's starting to fill out his body as well, and is putting together a pretty impressive 20 year old season in Lake County. Bat was always behind the glove, but is starting to catch up a bit.
Skylar Arias: Indians lack in LHP bullpen prospects, and have for some time. He's the best of the lower level ones that I have seen this year. 95/96 with his fastball, good slider. Was suspended early in his career, so he is a bit behind where he could be. Strikes a lot of guys out.
Nick Mikolajchak: Good luck saying his name. But if you're looking for your next potential Karinchak out of the 2019 draft group, this is your guy. His stuff will play up as a pro moving forward, wouldn't be surprised to see 96/97 from him next year. Tough arm slot to pick up with one of the better breaking balls in our system. Putting up video game numbers right now, should be a fast riser.
