2019 MLB Postseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow....the way they're talking about it this has nothing to do with the rule, but I don't even think that ball was catchable. And why does Yan not get 2nd base??

Unbelievable.

I need confirmation on how shitty that call was...
Very Very Shitty call

I'm happy the Nats are protesting the game.
Umpires tossing Martinez feels like they know they butchered it...

I liked Trea Turner's response re: Joe Torre (supervisor being in front row).
- - -> Joe's right there! Go talk to him!

RE: Yan back to first.
It's in the rule, when ball declared dead, players on base return to base occupied when the pitch was made

Not to be Devil’s advocate, but it was a judgment call. I thought only rules violations were valid to protest.

Protesting miss application of the rule is allowed & that is the protest
I haven't paid attention to mlb rule changes in a while and I'm not watching but I thought if a manager got tossed for arguing the team couldn't protest?

Never heard of that one..
But there is a protest in place at this point and Martinez has been run from the game.

Strausburg still in as the 9th begins. Looking for the complete game and saving Nats pen for all hands on deck in gm 7

Edit: He goes 8.1 IP Great game from him when its was all on the line....

Verlander is now an ignominious 0-6 in World Series games. For a HOFer and one of his generation's best pitchers, that's...pretty pathetic.

so i would love to get everyone's take on the replay that causes so much havoc last night.

It appears as thought the umps actually got the call correct. However by getting the call right it means they miss it several times a game. So im not sure which is better.

First base is completely in fair territory. A straight line from the right handed batter's box to first base is in fair territory. The only part of the base that is included in the running lane is the width of the foul line. The running lane is illogical with the field design and speed of the game. Therefore, the interference rule upholds the spirit of the game, but has been poorly implemented.

However, It was a good call based on the rule and the occurrence. Sad to see in a WS game, but it happened.

BTW . . . Gurriel covered first base like an uninterested tee ball player. No right foot on bag? No stretch? How bad do you want to get someone out?

When the ball is between the catcher and the pitcher, the first baseman is taught to keep their left foot in the bag (regardless fo what hand they are) without stretching.

It's a tighter window to throw through, and standing that way provides a larger target.
