2019 Series #32 | Indians vs. Royals | July 19th, 20th, and 21st

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jason Lloyd said on 92.3 earlier today that he isn’t “sold” on Mercado. Starting to think that he may not know what the fuck he’s talking about when it comes to baseball.

I don't listen to 92.3 or subscribe to The Athletic, is Lloyd covering the Tribe now???

Covers basically everything Cleveland sports-wise, like others have mentioned I haven't really agreed with most of his baseball takes lately although still think he's a good writer overall. That being said also heard the Mercado comment on 92.3 flipped stations after that and just hearing Chris Fedor, not sure how that dude keep get jobs for his sports opinion he's just awful.

I know it still way too early, but it's crazy that after the grind of the first half the Indians right now would be hosting the WC game, although a couple more twins loss and we won't be worried about that.

I never liked him when it came to basketball either. I thought he was an arrogant windbag personally.

He's a good reporter, but his actual opinions and insights, not so meaningful.

They are reporters, and their knowledge of the game is no greater than the average fan. They're not experts of the sports they cover. When it comes to news, insights, or inside info I'll listen to a Lloyd. Since I don't think he's bad at his job.

When it comes to his insights and knowledge of the sport. Not so much.

Mercado came in with a .280 Avg and even saw a bad slump, tonight he leaves with a .299 Avg.

What a ballplayer we have.

Naquin at .293.... After batting .266 at the all-star break. This is just our third series post all-star break. He's jumped 30 points in not even three series played since then.

Not to be a broken record, but we can't keep batting him 9th. Like what the fuck, he's one of the hottest hitters in baseball right now.

If we're so concern about having runners on for Lindor. It's very simple

Have Mercado lead off (OBP of .352 third best on the team!), bat Lindor second, Santana third, Ramirez Cleanup, Naquin 5th...

Hell, have Perez bat 9th if Tito wants production at the bottom of the lineup. He does walk a bit despite his .241 average.

You can't continue having one of the hottest hitters in baseball bat 9th. I'm a big Tito fan by the way. I'm one that usually defends his decisions more than others are willing to.

This one, I don't get. A guy that's second in slugging percentage on the club should NOT be hitting 9th!

Tito’s won a lot of games, and he didn’t do that by making drastic lineup changes because a guy has a hot stretch over a couple of weeks.

He was hitting .253/.285/.433 going into his game on July 2.

Now, the last 11 games have been electric, but the best managers don’t make decisions off the highest highs or the lowest lows a player experiences.

I don’t see the need to move Naquin up. Treat the 9 hole like a second lead off hitter, when you have our best bat coming up right behind him, Lindor. Finally someone can be on base when the top of the order comes up. How many times have we seen Frankie hit a solo shot this year?

Here’s the issue for Lloyd- he’s on the entire morning show (hours) and isn’t doing just 5 minute blurbs. So his opinions tend to get drawn out and frankly change over the course of a show. Carmen and Co. change opinions like the wind - it’s the only way to do a four hour show everyday.
For example, I’ve heard him praise the Indians for the Marcado trade, yet give a relatively honest opinion on a player with only a couple months big league experience.
Its difficult when you go from a 5 minute radio guy to a 4 hour “personality”.
Just an observation.

Being in the front row and not getting in the way of an opposing player is a dereliction of duty. It's like sitting in the emergency aisle on an airplane...you have responsibilities, man!
