2019 Series #34 | Indians @ Royals | July 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was about to say Cole hasn't pitched in 11 days before he got into tonight. I like the fact our long relievers/early relievers haven't needed to come in games, but at the same time, when someone hasn't been pitching, it will be hard to stay sharp. I feel if we acquired another veteran arm, it will be Cole who gets replaced, though a nice lefty to replace Olson in a sense would be nice (Cole and Olson have been the weak links in the pen it feels like to me).

I really hate extra inning regular season games.

Besides the whole fan experience argument with games going far too late into the night, I hate the way it impacts a pitching staff.
What do they do? Runner on second to start the inning? Tie? Home run derby (people would actually stay tuned in)? Dizzy bat spin race between each teams heaviest players?

It may be unpopular, but I'm good with a tie.

If that is unacceptable due to "lack of drama" or whatever, I'm good with any way to end it quicker.

Maybe let it go into a certain number of extras, tie if it's not decided by then. 12 inning max? I know it was a joke, but a 10-pitch home run derby? Shit, I'd be okay with it. It'd be like soccer or hockey where the game isn't decided by actually playing the game anymore.

Obviously keep extras for playoffs, but I'm all for eliminating or minimizing extras during the regular season. 162 games is enough of a grind already.

I’d be fine with ties if the game isn’t decided after 12 innings. Most extra inning games finish in the 10th or 11th anyways, and all those super long games do us ruin bullpens, force starters to come out of relief which throws off the next week for the team, and make backup catchers lob in 68 mph meatballs.

Santana scratches with shoulder soreness. Freeman in, Jose to DH.

I'm a big fan of Mike Freeman. Dude is like the perfect utility guy.
Same! He's been great. Worlds better than those bums we were playing at the beginning of the season.
