2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Markkanen seems like a tweener perimeter oriented 4 more than a stretch 5

Do you mean a tweener PF/center? If so I agree with that. I think for the Cavs he would primarily play the 5 just because he is 7 feet tall and you could make up some of his rebounding by putting Nance or Love at PF. He could certainly play PF with Allen at center if we needed him to do so.

With how the PF position has evolved, I'm not sure I would want Markkanen defending big wings on the perimeter. I think Markkanen is a player that right now might be a PF/center but could be purely a center as the game evolves.

Really not a fan of Lauri. He can't rebound, is trash on d and does nothing on offense other space. And hes a worse shooter than you'd like. He is a 6m player that will demand 10m+. 7ft tall 2 guards are worthless for anyone that remembers mr primo pasta Andrea bargnani. Lauri is the same player

I was referring to playing like a perimeter oriented forward, in general most of the time in Chicago anyway, on offense, and a defender more limited to defending mostly space limited 4's.
I do think he could possibly be a good player to target, to fit next to non stretch bigs. However, being the Cavs are essentially stuck with Love, I doubt they go after him. Unless they think he can defend 3's with training.

you are gauging them based on impact as a starter, but as a 6M per year off the bench player?

I'm confused why folks think Lauri is a cheap and easy get...did Chicago refuse to give him the QO, making him UNrestricted? If not, even if they don't want him, they're not gonna let a former lottery pick walk to a division rival on a cheap deal without getting some back.

Also, I'm sure his coach will say something, but Dean Wade could probably do everything Lauri does for a fraction of the cost...

None of the guys being discussed are coming here at a reasonable price.

Caruso, McConnell, McDermott... they all have value to good teams as superb role players. Why sign with us for anything less than a drastic overpay?

Markannen, he’s still young enough and talented enough offensively to draw suitors that will push him out of our price range.

I agree with this. Wade probably has better impact all around. Better defender better shooter.

Alot of reporters think that the Bulls are just going to let Markkanen walk. Usually with restricted free agents if it's widely speculated that a team will let a player walk, it happens. They probably have been told how hard he was shopped at the trade deadline or literally told that the Bulls don't want him back.

This.. though I don't think we have a shot at Markannen either.

If you want McConnell/Caruso then maybe look to make a trade to Boston for Pritchard. Not sure what you would need to give up, but that's about the only way you are going to fill the role with anyone halfway good (via trade).

Last year we were able to sign someone named {checks notes} Damyean Dotson and a bunch of guys looking to get a foot in the door to the league. We have enough bottom of the roster/G-League fodder scratch tickets on the team as it is, and that's the kind of player available to us in free agency.

Given that SVG just got released, is this not the perfect time to can JBB and get a real coach?

Kevin Durant will be tweeting you from one of his burners now...
KD does so much more than shoot. Hes also an elite ball handler and a plus defender. And much more. Lauri can barely dribble.

Hes is less accurate Channing without the fun personality. Are you going to give him more than 6m?

Cavs are doing a disservice to the rebuild sending out good coaches over and over that struggle to win with young players.
Expectations by some of you are trash takes

When was the last time we had a good coach? Fratello? Lue was solid but not a top 5 coach
