Tatis apologizing for hitting a grand slam is just another reason why I hate baseball’s unwritten rules.
Hurts the game.
This is why i love Trevor Bauer and always will. Back when Tim Anderson was catching flack for his bat flips Bauer stood up for him and told him if he hits a HR off him he can flip his bat. I just don't get the people in baseball that would possibly be offended if a guy swings 3-0 and hits a grand slam. Hitting a HR isn't easy and if you do hit one celebrate all you want, that's what makes the game more fun.
I don’t know. Some of baseball’s unwritten rules need to be maintained. Would you overlook a bunt single or stolen base by an opponent who is up by 8 runs?Tatis apologizing for hitting a grand slam is just another reason why I hate baseball’s unwritten rules.

It's actually pretty easy if you play baseball for a living and you absolutely know a heater is coming down the plate.
Regarding the bat flip - it's about respect. I personally think it's OK as long as it's not consistent, obnoxious, and you don't sit there watching the ball.

I wouldn't personally do it, but ultimately, it's a hitter's job to get on base and a pitcher's job to get outs.I don’t know. Some of baseball’s unwritten rules need to be maintained. Would you overlook a bunt single or stolen base by an opponent who is up by 8 runs?
Right but rarely do they 100% know there is a fastball coming right down the middle. Maybe when they do know they shouldn't swing for fear of hurting someone's feelings.

I don't care what the score is, both sides should be trying to do their job, and I'll never get upset at an athlete for doing their job.
I would hope so. A manager would have to be pretty shitty to not trust his superstar hitter to swing away at his own discretion.I'm waiting for your answer about whether Tatis was given the green light or not. Or is it no longer customary to look at the coach between each pitch?

No, I'm saying if Tatis wanted to swing, he should have. There's nothing to apologize for. He did his job.I should have phrased that question better - shame on me lol.
What you are actually saying is that Tatis knew better and should have took the pitch, but you are going to chastise him for apologizing.
