2020 Assistant Coach News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I found it interesting that a former outside linebacker is coaching our tight ends and a former tight end is coaching our linebackers. Talked with a friend who played QB collegiately, mentioned it's actually easier than coaching your own position in some ways. The film you watch in game preparation the most is the opponent across from you. Learning the details of the players you have to block or cover tends to be a big part of your film sessions, making it an easy transition to coach the position you study so much. I thought that is interesting, especially with a former college safety as our offensively-minded head coach.

Yes, Fred Pagac sometimes goes by the nickname Pug. Both he and Woods have coached on staffs with Wade Phillips as the DC.

I had read rumors (can't remember if Twitter or Reddit) about Stefanski dipping into the college ranks for the QB coach. With National Signing Day being today, having a guy hired later this week would make a lot of sense.

He’s also still working through whether or not he’ll add a quarterbacks coach or let Van Pelt handle that chore. The quarterbacks that Van Pelt has worked with, including Aaron Rodgers and Andy Dalton, have raved about him.

Van Pelt joins special teams coordinator Mike Priefer and defensive coordinator Joe Woods, who’s in town on Wednesday and in the process of finalizing his hire.
