Browns camp (Day 1): Jarvis Landry scores TD during team drills in comeback from surgery
Practice MVP
Sheldrick Redwine. The 2019 fourth-round draft pick from the University of Miami had two interceptions — one in a team drill and another in a one-on-one period. Backup quarterback Case Keenum threw both interceptions.
Johnson is a competitor. Concussions and nagging injuries robbed him of #1 corner status in Houston and a big payday, but had a great year as the nickel in Buffalo last year. He played in 402 snaps with a very strong 73.6 grade from PFF.
TJ Carrie was certainly durable with 678 snaps in 2019 and a willing tackler, but didn't make much of a difference in coverage. PFF awarded him the defensive backs highest overall grade in run support and lowest out of all defensive backs in coverage.
Johnson is getting paid for his upside without a lot of guaranteed money in case his injuries resurface. Last season it felt like Ward was the only surefire starting defensive back with a bunch of depth players around him. Hopefully this season under Woods the entire position group shines, just like the Woods teams in Minnesota, Denver, and San Francisco.
