2020 Browns Training Camp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would say this is a significant trade Not just for this season but due to the protection it gives us in 2021(Harrison is under contract until this season and the 2021 season)

If the Browns move on from Joseph and/or Sendejo after one year, they now have Harrison and Delpit

If they retain Joseph and Delpit comes back in full health, Woods has a great trio to run the packages he likes plus a nice 4th safety in Redwine

If Delpit isn’t ready to start the season next year, Harrison is there.

Safety goes from potentially being a necessity in the 2021 draft, to being more of a possibility but not desperation.

Really like the recent additions of Weaver and Harrison. Really excited about the potential of some of the late round picks like Harris, Bryant, and Peoples-Jones. Have hopes even for Ankou and AJ Green.

We’ve been there before with overvaluing fringe young guys but I think Berry may have really knocked his first talent acquisition offseason out of the park. Fingers crossed.

Somebody post some optimistic, browns-biased analysis of this man that is Ronnie Harrison please.

I mentioned yesterday that late round draft picks is how we need to build our depth.

And Bryant is the perfect example of how you do it. Do not draft for Need EVER after the 3rd round when you have a talent staring you in the face who should have never dropped that low, especially when the fit is so tailored to how the offensive head coach does things.

For that very reason, even if Harrison plays well, Joseph gets extended, and Delpit comes back healthy, if there is a safety talent in the 4th round of next draft who is by far BPA on your board, you take him over a “need pick” 10/10 times. It’s just thankfully less of a necessity than it was yesterday that we make a big S acquisition via 2021 FA/draft.

As far as on the field play, Harrison is coming in here with only 10 days to learn system before BAL. I hope we all give him a little latitude if his first few games are a little shaky.

It would be nice to see them take the same approach at LB. They're quickly becoming the RB's of the defense with how they are valued.

He’s been a SS most his career right?? Not really the move we needed to make.

Trading day 3 picks for solid vets remains a highly competitive advantage. Keep/acquire as many top 100 picks as you can use the others to move around in the draft or move them for established nfl depth. Love the move for Harrison.

He's a box guy who can play some deep coverage. Believe it or not, PFF thinks he's a better coverage safety than he is a box safety.

Put him in a cover 3 or 4 and I think he'll thrive.

We will run allot of three safety sets, at the very least he is plays 40% of the snaps, but he could become a starter pretty quickly too. Smart player, 3rd round pick, decent athlete, makes very good reads. Probably best suited for strong safety, but we will run allot with 2 strong safeties anyways.

To add to what everyone else is saying, Joseph also does not have a good history of playing all 16 games. His 4 years in the NFL to date have been 12, 15, 13, and 9 games played. He’s also a free agent again in the offseason. They are said to have been targeting him as a possible extension candidate, but until that happens, he’s a FA after the season. Harrison is under contract until AFTER the 2021

So this is exactly the type of move we needed to be making.

Yep, he is comfortable in split zone and zone in a specific area. He can play man against running backs and tight ends, but not a receiver. He is not going to play free safety in Cover 1 - think Earl Thomas. But, Woods doesn't run much Cover 1. Good scheme fit, has played a consistent role for the Jags, playing 80% of their defensive snaps.

Why would JAX give away someone like this? A 5th isn't that enticing, really.
