The 5* RB from PSU is Ricky Slade, but he will not be eligible next year since he has not graduated. There’s always a slim chance they get a hardship waiver (like Fields did) but it doesn’t appear guys like Slade or Sampson from Indiana are even applying for a hardship.

If OSU lands a grad-transfer RB, I doubt it comes from the portal honestly. There are enough graduated college RBs that see OSU’s current situation and would love to come be the featured guy.

I love looking at the portal, but I think in this situation, you will get more back channeling from guys not in the portal, to see if OSU sees it as a fit. That’s similar to how it worked with Fields who knew his hardship would be granted and identified he wanted OSU before it was even made public he was transferring.

I like Teague alot as a RB. I'd guess better than most.

That said, even if you put aside the basic difference in "talent" between Teague and JK, their running styles is WAY different. OSU's bread and butter last year was the outside zone. JK's skillset is just devastating when has even the tiniest of cutback lanes.

Teague is a straight ahead bruiser. Sure he can make a cut, but I don't think he best used in a zone heavy offense.

We haven't seen much of Mcall, but I think his running style is much more like JK (not as good, but who is). Regardless of who played RB, I think we were gonna see a) more passing with Wilson, Olave and the froshs and b) Fields run a little more now that we have some big recruits as backups.

I honestly think a RB rotation spearheaded by McCall will be fine.

Unfortunately, he just isn’t a threat between the tackles which is a staple to make outside zone a threat. If you can’t run inside (JK could) you aren’t getting outside.

I was excited for Demario coming off his sophomore season where he showed some flashes out of the backfield. At a minimum, I saw him as a Darren Sproles type specialist that would have an impact from RB in specific sets.

Not knocking Demario, but I think the college game is so much different, and Day values a “3 down” back so much because it prevents the defense from substituting. One of my criticisms of Day last year was actually his aversion to taking JK off the field on sustained drives where it was obvious he was gassed. I’m not going to argue the success....their PPG was amazing. But Day obviously values a RB that can handle an entire playbook and keeps the offensive playbook wide open. I don’t think Demario keeps the playbook wide open which is why he finds himself at WR now.

Curtis Samuel wasn’t an inside threat, but the and Mike Webber were good enough as a tandem, and that was with a much worse offense around them.

Im with you; at worst, I think that component of the offense will at least be serviceable. I’m torn on Teague but in fairness the carries he received in the bigger games — he didn’t have much of a chance to establish a rhythm. You JK all day against Clemson and Teague gets a single carry how long into the game? I don’t know I guess I kind of just struggle with “holding it against him.”

I’m a bigger fan of Crowley than most I think so I’m excited to see him get at it in fall camp. I don’t think much of Miyah Williams so I don’t think he’ll be much of a factor here at any point.

I will admit to not really having an opinion of Crowley, Chambers or Williams (obviously you worry about Crowley's injury). Maybe one of them is serviceable enough on their own or good enough as part of a rotation.

That’s actually him working out himself, utilizing a regimen from Coach Mick. Impressive nonetheless.......

I’m sure Mickey will appreciate Miyan transforming his body before getting to Columbus.....
