2020 CFP Sugar Bowl | #3 Ohio State vs. #2 Clemson | January 1st, 2021 @ 8 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I didn’t really become super invested in OSU until a couple years before I went there. So like 05-06 is as far back as my real game memories go. I do remember the 03 Natty against Miami though and being happy, but I had to go back and rewatch it when I got older.

That said, Last night is definitely in my top 5 if we’re counting CFP games.

Fields completed some really deep passes last night, but damn there is some serious arc on them. It takes them time to get where they are going, and I'm not sure that is going to translate really well to the NFL

Does the height of the ball really matter if the receiver is catching while at top speed in his route? It’s not as if he was throwing them up and allowing the receiver to run under them where in some situations a DB could close...the WRs were catching those balls in stride.

Well, yes. It takes longer for the ball to get to the WR so defenders do have a chance to close. Now, if the WR is the fastest guy on the field, is already behind every single defender, and catches the ball perfectly in stride, then it isn't an issue.

That's just generally not as true in the NFL.

They do hang a bit but damn if he doesn’t drop them right in the bread box.

Fields’ bombs are beautiful.

I’d love Olave on the Browns. Dude is so smooth.
Oh man...this would be incredible. He'd fit in so well with this Browns offense. Dude is an incredible route runner and has great hands. Just seems like a tailor-made fit with Baker Mayfield.

I'd imagine Olave is probably on the late 1st/early 2nd round border?

I think we gotta go defense with the 1st round pick...but trading up for Olave in the 2nd round would not be a bad idea at all...

So what is your main concern? Are you I belief he doesn’t have the arm strength?

I guess what I’m seeing is that on those 45 to 55 yard passes that he was throwing last night the wide receiver was behind the defense and that usually is the likely scenario in the NFL. If you have a deep threat he usually can take the top off the defense and stay ahead of that defender so if the receiver catches it in stride I don’t see an issue. Fields has shown to be able to spend the ball pretty damn well and the 15-20 throws.

I mean this throw here is beautiful:

Gave you a like because Olave is my favorite prospect in this draft and I think he would be perfect in Stefanski's offense, but I can't really get on board with using a second round pick on a WR given our defensive needs. Maybe free agency will change that.

Yeah, I hear you. It definitely depends on what we do in Free Agency. There's no doubt that defense needs to be addressed aggressively.

Tremendous schematic fit for the Browns.

“This win ranks right up there with the tie against Meatchicken in 1992 as one of OSU’s greatest wins.”

Man, I was way wrong about OSU :chuckle: After IU’s embarrassing bowl loss today I can’t hate on the Big 10’s decision anymore, so I’ll be rooting for you guys against Alabama. Should be a pretty good game.

Yikes.
