2020 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

In fairness, when youve been as historically corrupt as MSU has the last few decades, hypocrisy and a general tone deafness of this magnitude might barely register.

NCAA cancelled all fall championships. That means they won’t hold national playoffs, but sports can still have regular seasons. This doesn’t affect football because the NCAA doesn’t run the CFP.

Also, the wrestling coaches association is calling to delay the wrestling season to New Years.

I think the rest of the conference cancelling fall football and everybody having a winter or spring season make sense at first glance.

The tweet says:

"The campaign said it is asking the Big Ten to allow its players and teams to make their own choices as to whether they wish to play or opt out of the fall season."

On August 5, players (including Fields) published publicly a whole list of demands of what the schools/conference must do before players would agree to agree to play, and specifically criticized the existing protocols as inadequate.

So is Fields now abandoning those demands, and saying they'll play regardless? Or are all those demands - which the conference as a whole is unable to meet - still valid?

I believe that list of demands was created by the Football Parents Association, not the players. The players just want to play.

The demands were published in the Players Tribune, and came from the College Athletic Unity, which self-describes as being composed of member athletes.

i have no idea what role that demand letter played in the minds of the Big Ten Presidents, but the universities were being set up to get absolutely blasted if they went ahead with a season without an absolutely perfect protocol.

Very good question and one I am ill-equipped to answer. COVID seems to have infected everything, unfortunately.

Perhaps Sandy could talk to their own PSU President or Chancellor?!?
Perhaps the B1G could provide any sort of information or explanation as to why they cancelled the season? Or how that decision came to be? Particularly when other conferences are practicing in pads, full-go, with no issues??

UNC just went to all online learning. Can't imagine they play football without kids in classes.

They're playing other sports without fans. Why not? Certainly not ideal and hopefully things change to sanity, but why not?
