2020 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The draft sims I've been running don't give us any chance of staying put and getting 2 offensive linemen with picks the first two days, at least not immediate starters. Everytime Simmons is available at 10 and I pick him, I cant pick up a starter grade tackle in rd 2-3. It makes me feel like a first round trade down could be the smart move, all contingent on free agency and trades, of course.

I'd happily take someone like Trey Adams in the early 3rd round to develop at right tackle. I see a bunch of second and third tier tackle prospects who would have been first round contenders other years.

Claypool running a 4.43 at 6’4 235. If he makes that transition to TE he could be a weapon

*Dogs DK Metcalf last year*

*Compares Chase Claypool to Megatron this year*

LMAO
Neither of them is anywhere close to the prospect Calvin Johnson was.

I may have been the strongest proponent of DK on here last year, and the only time I mentioned him and Megatron in the same sentence was to say that Metcalf's path to success would be on a similar route tree to what Megatron ran. Slant, post, go, comeback... "Big man routes." His lateral agility numbers just mean you aren't going to be asking him to run arrow routes or anything crazy.

I thought Wirfs would have been more of an animal on the bench. I mean 24 isn’t the end of the world but given what we saw or have seen I just felt like something brighter was imminent.

I think Higgins cost himself some money with that time too

Yeah, those are Megatron like numbers. At that size, put him on the outside and let him just jump over dudes.

Honestly, it depends. Would you rather have George Kittle or Mike Evans?

I think a truly game breaking pass catching TE might be more valuable than an outside, jump ball threat. Maybe that is disparaging Claypool's WR profile.....but if he's already 235 and carrying the weight that well, I think you bulk him up and move him to TE if he's willing.

George Kittle Combine:

Height: 6'4"
Weight: 249 LBS
40: 4.52
Vert: 35"

I know, I know......what makes Kittle special is his two way play but I'm just using his numbers as a benchmark......he'll need some time to carry an additional 15 LBS of good weight but Claypool is already in the range of an NFL TE, size wise. He'd be such a mismatch against LB's if teams' think he is technical enough to transition to playing with his hand down. You could also consider him in an H-Back role, as more of a standup TE......I just think someone that big, is way more valuable pushed inside the hashes.....where his size and speed become even more difficult to deal with, given coverage matchups.

I've heard there is more of a possibility of a trade down now that Berry is in the big chair. He embraces the ability to gain value if a team is desperate to trade up.

So while my preference would be to go with the best of the top four tackles at #10, I would not be surprised if they move down for an additional 2nd rounder this year with other perks. That would open the team to address multiple needs, including the weaknesses on the offensive line.

I'm fine with that in principle as long as it doesn't result in us taking a second-tier OT. If multiple top OT's are still available, and we can add an extra pick by dropping back a few slots while still getting a top-tier guy, I'm all for it.

Certainly the early returns on the QB's and skill players are helping. It seems like OT is one of the positions that potentially gets pushed down because of it. It would be really nice to pocket a 3rd or 4th to slide back and still get one of the top tackles.

We'll see.

Today is going to be a crazy day. I expect Becton and Wirfs are going to destroy the combine.
