2020 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we’re still looking for Safety by next years draft Grant Delpit is getting a lot of buzz as a possible first round pick. Generally doesn’t seem like next years class has the same depth at Safety as this year but there are some serious top shelf guys who should provide some serious value.

CB should be far better in 2020 which is great, and LB, while not amazing by any means, should also be an improvement. Ultimately we’re in all likelihood still going to be looking for OT’s, and it doesn’t seem like 2020 will be much better than last years which wasn’t great.

If the Browns are in position to draft Delpit, something has gone horribly horribly wrong.

He's better than Malik Hooker was (albeit more experienced too). One of the better safety prospects I've ever seen in 15 years or so of being a draft nerd.

You're probably right, but again, there were tons of really good Safeties available in this years class as well and all but one of them fell out of the first round. It doesn't seem like a position that a lot of teams put a lot of value into. We also saw a lot of other guys from this years draft fall waaay further than anyone anticipated.

It's still early of course, a lot of things can and will happen from here until the draft.

Out of curiosity, how did you value Hooker as a prospect?

To me, he was arguably the best single-high safety prospect I've seen. He's definitely not on par with a versatile safety like Derwin James, but man did I love Hooker.

wow better prospect then Hooker coming out of college. I had to look this guy up. Injuries pushed Hooker down the draft a little and then was injured his rookie year. If the kid could of stayed healthy before draft he goes anywhere from 3 to 8.

I agree. This guy checks all the boxes--plays the box, cover the slot and plays deep. Before the injuries I would say Hooker was a better CF but not close on the other 2. If Hooker stays healthy and a year or 2 more at tOSU maybe he improves those skills.

These are starting to become a consensus.

You can add Dylan Moses Moses to that list. There isn’t a better LB in this entire class, I have a very hard time seeing anyone overtaking him.

Jeudy is the best WR prospect since a Beckham, for me.

Delpit has a chance to be the best prospect since Ed Reed at his position. One of my favorite players to watch in all of college football.

Hope he stays healthy and balls out, that LSU defense has some serious talent.

@AZ_ what are your thoughts on Antoine Brooks, Brandon Jones and Isaiah Simmons as potential first round picks for us? If we operate out of the assumption that Delpit will be gone and we still want to go for a Safety in the first round do you recken any of Those guys could be worth a pick?

Sorry I missed this!

Antoine Brooks:

I liked Savage quite a bit more than him, and I had Savage as a mid-first because of how much of an athlete he is as well as his versatility. Prove it year, but he doesn't quite flash the same athletic chops.

I'd put him in the third round range right now, but he's a playmaker who has every bit the versatility of Savage, but is pretty much their best defensive player so it will be tough for him to ball out with Savage gone.

Brandon Jones:

Angle-taking is a concern for me, as is tackling. This new scheme seems to prefer more athletic safeties, so with some improvement I'd imagine he'll be in the bucket of guys the Browns are looking at. He's a stud athletically, though struggles translating that to technique, results in some meh games.

Solid player, but isn't more than a mid-round pick for me right now.

Isaiah Simmons:

This is the guy I think could vault himself into a top prospect. Led a deep Clemson team in tackles and pass breakups, but beyond that he's 225 and well over 6' and could project at multiple positions.

He's not a true safety, he's not a true LB. But if he tests well he should be highly sought after by this team who could move him all over the board because of how good their corners and Randall are.

They claim he's a 4.3 guy, I'll believe that when I see it.

Best LT available?

Tristan Wirfs, Iowa, is a right tackle that's supposed to be good. Not sure if he could switch to the left side.
Walker Little, Stanford, is a true left tackle.
Andrew Thomas, Georgia. Another true LT that's supposed to be good.

Just tore his ACL.

Out for the year.
