2020 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A certain owner might be getting involved in decisions he is not qualified to make.....

Sometimes, I think Gilbert is a little bit too much hands on. He should allow Altman and Bickerstaff to make roster choices.....imo

Saw a rumor on twitter that the Cavs were the ones to promise Okoro he wouldn't fall past 5.

Would make a lot of sense. I'd absolutely love him and Sexton together. Plus in this draft where everyone has legit question marks, taking the hardest worker is a smart thing.

Well that's if we don't trade the pick...

He's a cultural piece. If you have 2 guys like that competing to see who works harder... Windler also works really hard, and basically hurt himself that way.

I like that part of the culture and having that infrastructure for KPJ is important. He won't be able to just slack while Okoro and Windler are busting their asses.

It seems like the majority of the fanbase view Okoro as a perfect fit for the team but I'm worried that Gilbert or the front office won't see it that way.

Plus he's close with Sexton already, let's get the works bros together.

@ansatsusha80 yeah legit worry, I think it could go either way at this point. I'm hoping for a young guy though.

To me it really depends on what you believe his offensive development can be. Because I believe in his work ethic and ability to be a food defender. But, and I’m not saying it will, if his offensive game ends up being MKG level, I don’t want him anywhere near this team. If you believe he can get to Marcus Smart level offense as a floor and maybe Jimmy Butler level offense as a Ceiling(even if it’s unlikely to get get reached), then turn the card in now.

Fans fall in love with guys who try hard every year during draft season. It's the NBA. Every single player in the league is good when they try hard. Get the guy who has the most talent.

I think he will be better offensively than MKG. More assists on less usage. Similar shooting, but I don't think Okoro's mechanics look as busted. MKG never developed as a passer or shooter. Let's also say it. IF MKG were a premiere defender, he would be getting burn as an Andre Roberson type.

One thing that bodes well is he is takes 3.5 3 pt attempts per 40. whereas MKG never felt comfortable taking it and averaged 2 less 3's per game in college. Just Okoro's willingness to take it makes me think he can at least become streaky like Smart. Smart was more willing to take 3's in college.

Last if Okoro were getting drafted in 2018 with the nets pick I wouldn't take him. He can develop a little more slowly now that we have a few Young guys that need development. It woudl be harder to draft him, if we were putting high expectations on him. The expectations for KPJ, Sexton, Garland, and even Windler are going to be higher than for Okoro, so I think he could slot in great.

Petrusev (29 pts, 3 blk) and Simonovic (12 reb, 4 3pt, 4 ast) continuing to bolster their draft&stash resumes in the Adriatic League. Jokubaitis, who I mentioned earlier, contracted COVID and has been out of action. Bolmaro continues to see sporadic minutes.

And yes, that is our very own Scoochie Smith playing the point.

Okoro is being overrated.

Every prospect is a bit overrated in this draft. Most of these high lottery guys would be late lottery in most drafts. With that said I do like Okoro's motor, defense, finishing, and ability to impact winning games on that Auburn squad. That might be enough value in this draft. Who at 5 other than Okongwu and possibly Vassell could come right in and help the Cavs defensively?
