2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I believe it may be this. Heard they may have cut people in line of from the 11:30 session that he was in. But haven't heard anything definitively

Or, maybe this: this year the Indians sold $75 "All Star sessions", which were to feature at least 2 members from the active roster/staff who have been All Stars. One of the sessions was at 9 and I believe Lindor was supposed to be in it, but he was late. So they subbed in Santana, 20 minutes after the session was supposed to start. 1st session ended up being Bieber and Santana. The 2nd session was Jose and Hand. So some people may have paid $150 for these sessions thinking Lindor was a lock, but didn't get him

I'll bet it was him being late + that line being cut, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm hearing the general public session isn't going well - lines were crazy and some people missed their first paid auto sessions because they were still outside. I didn't have that issue with the STH session - thank goodness.

Lindor doesn't want to directly rile up the fans during his first ST interviews.

But when he casually mentions $400M, that isn't an accident. When he mentions
doing what is best for his family, that adds the spice.

Bottom line is that we all know Dolans aren't going to offer him anything
close to what he'll command from outside.

Tribe must keep their ears open for a trade and all must trust the player
evaluators to bring back an appropriate haul. Task is tougher because
everyone knows Lindor is out of Cleveland no later than the length of
the current contract.
Yep. It's just a sad thing for everyone, really. At this point I think the only chance Dolan offers him a competitive deal is if we win the World Series in the next 2 years and the money just pours in.

I'd be curious to hear people's experiences with Tribe Fest this year for those who attended. Here's a few of mine:

- We had a ticket to get a photo with Carlos Carrasco and it was probably my favorite part of the day. As we waited in line I watched him interact with the fans and I am just blown away by him. He shook everyone's hand, some people gave him a hug, he smiled and said a few words to everyone. In between fans getting pictures some players fiddle around with their phones or talk to each other - not Carlos - he would find kids walking by or waiting and wave to them and smile. Just a really awesome, genuine guy. I hope he retires here.

- The only thing I hate about the autographs is the random selection of players. I wish they'd just tell you who is in each session, limit tickets (if needed), and just have people pay a premium to guarantee top players like Lindor. We bought a regular session and an All-Star session and got Jose Ramirez twice. Which, hey - if you're going to get a player twice, that's a good one to get - but it would have been cool to get Jose and someone else.

- I really enjoyed looking through the lineup cards they were selling - I ended up buying one from a 2018 game for $25. They were also selling some All-Star Game signage used from the stadium - I got one of those for $10. With my STH discount, ended up being $32 or $33.

- Food options need to be better. I'd like to see them bring in some local places, similar to what they have in the Corner District at the stadium.

- I saw Paul Dolan walking around, talking to fans. Brave man! :chuckle:

- With about 15 minutes left I noticed the session with Shane Bieber only had 5 people in line, so I went to buy a ticket and they said they had closed sales. I had my son wait by the steps, thinking maybe he'd walk by and sign. He did, but security ushered him away. One of the event volunteers saw my son, came over, and gave him an autographed Bieber card - pretty cool of her to do that!

- The baseball field in the center was once again my son's favorite part. Got a hit off of Logan Allen ;)

- We didn't see Lindor at all - might have just missed him interacting but I felt he has had a bigger presence in recent years.

Overall, we had great time, as we usually do with the event. Ready to get this thing started!

That wouldn't help enough.

I'm luke warm on the Dolans but I won't blame them for not signing Lindor. There is just no way the team can offer him what he'll get on the open mark...It would cripple our ability to field a competitive team. I'd love for them to be able to work out something but its just not happening.

Literally everything he just said today has been true for well over a year now. I'm just surprised he picked this weekend to publicly say it.

Has he been open to any negotiation? One thing that stuck out to me is he sort of painted a picture of him just waiting for the Tribe to come with the offer and he'd sign it, but everything I've heard/read is that he's going to test the market no matter what.

I had a blast and was impressed by the overall turnout. Obviously based on my avatar, I was pretty pumped to meet Bieber, but I also had the opportunity to snap a photo with Triston McKenzie as well as go back and forth with Mike Chernoff on the root of Jose’s slump. Great time all around and getting itchy for baseball to return to the corner of Carnegie and Ontario.

Damn, you and @Andrew Scheid sure are ugly

Some of the autograph sessions ran over on time and most of the players stayed anyway to sign for people who had paid for tickets...I wonder if Frankie bolted instead of making sure everyone who paid got an autograph? Just speculation on my part.

This is a pretty accurate depiction of what happened.

What’s weird is how, in spite of media talking with fans about the incident, they chose to cover Frankie’s “real ness” about wanting to stay in Cleveland.

I’ve heard $35M/per year over 10 years is the ask, FWIW.

Shocking that local media took the angle of painting ownership in a negative light.

As for Frankie, he’s an elite player and an ask of 10 years/$350 million is commensurate with his ability. However, we all know that’s not happening here, so the whole “I want to be here” doesn’t hold a lot of weight with me. Don’t piss on my head and tell me it’s raining. I’m good with whatever scenario ends up playing out with him.
