2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sadly I don’t think that will happen until he is too old to be worth bringing in, but this on paper doesnt look like an upgrade but Ihave to trust the Rays organization since they always seem to make small moves like this that help them.

Pham is definitely much better than Renfroe. But Pham only has 2 years left and is getting a bit pricey for the Rays, whereas Renfroe still has 4 years of cheaper control left. Add in a Top 100 prospects, and it makes sense.

I’ll be honest with ya, on this board at times people care way too much about stats and not enough about opinion, so whenever you state an opinion just be like, I don’t like this guy and don’t respond to their posts and let it go. I am not saying don’t state your opinion, but just agree to disagree and move on with it.

Here is my take on the situation, @Derek put up numbers that to him that support what he values in a pitcher so he supported his point of he is a top 30ish pitcher even though you don’t feel that way. I am leaning more towards Derek that you are undervaluing Wheeler at the end of the day. Personally I wouldn’t like him in the division, but I know you stand by your take. We will know a few years from now who was right so let’s leave the judge of the discussion to hindsight.

Now the whole board agrees upon though Wheeler made way too much money but that is the price of free agency with a limited number of guys who are even decent out there.
It's not about caring about stats over opinions, it's that opinions are worth zilch if you don't back it up with anything. All anybody wants to know is "why do you think that." That stands true for any thread, not just the Indians section. We're here to debate, but it's impossible if we don't know the "why."

And the bolded is a misconception. How Wheeler performs during the contract has nothing to do with where he currently ranks as a pitcher.

Not to freak anyone out or heighten expectations too much, because it’s still in its infancy and is only vaguely out there, which tells me it’s in its very early stages.

The Dolan’s are kicking around a potential sale of the team. Sherman leaving has lit some conversations.

Hopefully owners that would most importantly keep the team in Cleveland. Also retain the front office and structure of the organization, and spend a little more.

They have been kicking around the idea for years. They were kicking around to selling it Sherman himself.

I'm not sure what to think on this, because while so many assume this would be a really good thing, it could just as easily go the other way. While the lack of spending is frustrating, the Indians really do have a terrific foundation from which this organization is built.

I am not super worried if the Dolans sell the team, it’s just the question mark on who is going to take the organization over. I would say from top to bottom the organization itself is looking really good. My fear would be a new owner would want to change things their own way. Sincerely I feel if we could get someone who could afford to resign Lindor and extend Bieber, Clev etc but keep the rest of the system in place, Aka someone who can spend a bit more but keep the FO and their system in place then all would be well

Or find a new partner (replacing Sherman) that could buy part of the team (with future opportunity to buy the rest) & invest the money needed to up payroll to the range of $140 -$160M annually..

If someone new came in part way & saw how well things are operated, they might be inclined to let items remain in place...

Who can tell me about Beau Taylor other than his cool name?

I don't really know anything about him. From looking at his fangraphs page though, he has a really impressive walk rate that has translated across all levels of the minors and in his very limited (36 PA) major league career

When it comes to spending a little more, it's still on us to pack more in the seats. Dolan's never was interested in losing more than they gain, they were never competitively driven enough in my opinion to do that. Just strictly about operating their business the way they chose to.

Here's to an improved 2020 season on behalf of our fans. And I won't lie to you, I avoid April games, but my ticket plan still gives me one or two. Now they start in March... yikes

I’m usually one of the ones defending the Dolans. I completely get it. I’m looking into some type of package myself, though I’m getting married this year. Costing me a decent chunk of change.

Translation: Dan Gilbert back in the conversation for Tribe owner. Just for informational purposes, who is the highest rated college manager/coach?

Looks like Cole may have to shave his beard and cut his hair before next season.
