2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My original statement was that if the Twins or Whitesox signed him Indian fans should be happy. I stand by that. His contract would have hindered both teams financially and set them back. He's not a game changer. He's average. I never said he was bad until Derek went on and on. I said he's not good. Cause hes not. He's average. He won't make or break your team but with his contract it will only hurt the Phillies. But Phillies like signing bad contracts say hello to Adam Dunn I mean Bryce Harper and his 330 Million dumpster fire of a contract.

This is basically a dumpster fire of hot-take, incoherent rambling.

You were proven wrong, so I won't pile on.

But I hope you'll try and be better than this.

I wasn't proven wrong though? He cherry picked stats and so did I. He's an average pitcher getting paid 23.6 Million per year to pitch in a more hitter friendly environment.

Wheeler's FIP the past two seasons (3.37) is better than:
- Trevor Bauer
- Zack Greinke
- Aaron Nola
- Clayton Kershaw
- Jose Berrios
- Marcus Stroman
- Madison Bumgarner
- David Price
- Stephen Strasburg

I'm sure there are others too, that's just who I checked off the top of my head.

He's not an ace by any means, and he's definitely overpaid, but he's a pretty solid pitcher.

I cherry picked stats?

That’s rich.

I’ll be honest with ya, on this board at times people care way too much about stats and not enough about opinion, so whenever you state an opinion just be like, I don’t like this guy and don’t respond to their posts and let it go. I am not saying don’t state your opinion, but just agree to disagree and move on with it.

Here is my take on the situation, @Derek put up numbers that to him that support what he values in a pitcher so he supported his point of he is a top 30ish pitcher even though you don’t feel that way. I am leaning more towards Derek that you are undervaluing Wheeler at the end of the day. Personally I wouldn’t like him in the division, but I know you stand by your take. We will know a few years from now who was right so let’s leave the judge of the discussion to hindsight.

Now the whole board agrees upon though Wheeler made way too much money but that is the price of free agency with a limited number of guys who are even decent out there.

FWIW, I have a friend who is a big pitching mechanics guy and he says it's not a matter of 'if', it's just a matter of 'when', Wheeler blows his shoulder out.

Almost an irresponsible gamble for the Phils given the term.....

Jerry DiPoto is wheeling and dealing again - wonder what it would cost us for Haniger?

That’s a buy low I could get on board with real quick.

Got to be healthy, though. Hopefully he’s still got one working nut after exploding his other one during that AB last year.

Looks like Hunter Renfroe is heading to Tampa Bay along with Xavier Edwards, a top 100 prospect at 2B/SS for Pham. Hopefully, one of these years the Tribe can find a way to bring Pham here.

Sadly I don’t think that will happen until he is too old to be worth bringing in, but this on paper doesnt look like an upgrade but Ihave to trust the Rays organization since they always seem to make small moves like this that help them.

Speaking of wheeling and dealing, it's still the first week of December and the Padres already have already made 3 trades to add 3 new position player starters along with a new starting pitcher. And they spent big bucks on Drew Pomeranz.

I wonder if they still keep in contact with the Indians about Corey Kluber.
