2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cleveland Sports sucks, we know that.

LeBron and Frankie are the best thing since sliced bread. Now they can relive their Cleveland days and swap LA jerseys.
Has lindor ever publically said he wants to stay in cleve? Ever
Lux, may and another top prospect does it for me
I would also move kluber for another major league prospect or two
The team would be set up to continue contending for years. People have to come to grips with lindor leaving. And dont say dolans are cheap. La simply has so much more money coming in than cleve

The Angels' lineup looks really nice but that rotation is a disaster outside of Grifin Canning, who is still a work in progress himself. I do wonder if they'd be willing to overpay a bit over Kluber's current market value.

Lindor actually by his mannerisms and the fact he is one of the captains of the team, pretty much says he wants to be in Cleveland but he is also not stupid and knows that its 20-25 mil per season to stay in Cleveland on an extension and its 30+ elsewhere so he is going to give it his all while he is in Cleveland and when free agency comes he will decide then. So its not the fact he doesn't like Cleveland it is the fact of like you said the money a team like LA could offer is a lot more and thats why he hasnt signed an extension.

Now that being said, on paper you trade Lindor, but if you do that on a contending team, what are you saying to the rest of the crew when you trade a team captain? It really would hurt chemistry and hurt the chances of winning. I mean the roster projection for 2020 and 2021 are actually really freaking good. We have to balance contending and keeping the rotation going and I think we need to stick with contending and thats the most important thing right now. We have a very good farm system that should be up in a few years so I am going to take a chance on those guys and keep Lindor.

I mean if we can get Buttrey, Fletcher and another good prospect or two then I personally could deal with that in a way. I know that's not what everyone is saying on here, but Fletcher with the basic stats looks like a solid INF and he has good contact numbers. For the right deal I am willing to trade Kluber and allow the young guys to take the 4th and 5th spots.

Rosenthal floated out that the Mets may be willing to attach Dom Smith in a deal to unload Jed Lowrie, who has 1 yr $9m left on his deal

Lowrie, if healthy- which is no guarantee with him- is better than any current 2B/3B available in free agency (other than Donaldson) and $10m isn't too much more than I'd expect the likes of Schoop, Frazier, Dozier, etc. to receive.

The Indians have Key Bank kids tickets which are $15 ea with purchase of an adult ticket
Doesn't it start at $15 and go up? I still think the average ticket price should be lowered.

Also should consider a few things:
  1. Student tickets, buy and create an account with a .edu address and get a discount
  2. Same for any civil servants or military if they don't already have it.
  3. Monthly passes with at park perks (similar to Cavs)
  4. Tiered fees: season ticket holders 2%, partial/groups/monthly pass 4%, everyone else 6%
    1. This would also include rewards that reflect your level of commitment
  5. Focus on schools for field trips for day games in April & May when everyone has packed it in anyway
  6. Increase the amount of groups & companies that go to the game with devoted resources. Im talking young kids cold calling every damn business and group in Cleveland to sell tickets and build relationships.
  7. More pre & post game events

There are ways to hover around the 20k mark.

Agreed, especially for weekday attendance games

Same for any civil servants or military if they don't already have it.

I think they have a military discount, I may be mistaken though

Monthly passes with at park perks (similar to Cavs)

They did this 2 summers ago. SRO tickets to 2 weekend series (6 games, Fri, Sat, Sun) for $50

Tiered fees: season ticket holders 2%, partial/groups/monthly pass 4%, everyone else 6%
  1. This would also include rewards that reflect your level of commitment

I'm not understanding what you're saying with this one. Ticket fees?

STHs do get discounts and benefits based off of their tenure

Increase the amount of groups & companies that go to the game with devoted resources. Im talking young kids cold calling every damn business and group in Cleveland to sell tickets and build relationships.

Both of these occur more frequently than you think. I always see at least 1 huge group at nearly every game I go to.

I went to a weekday last year in August and there was a school group in the line next to me while getting in the stadium

More pre & post game events

Starting usually around mid-May, they have "Block Parties" with $2 beers starting 2 hours before the National Anthem starts for Friday and Saturday games, they have fireworks after those same games, and there are typically alumni signing in heritage park. For Sunday's, kids run the bases after each game. I think the Indians do pretty well with pre and post game events

What I'm getting at, is I think the Indians have done plenty to attract fans to the stadium. Bringing a family of 4 to a game is simply never going to be "cheap"

I do wish they would do more to try to fill the seats for the weekday night games where they're pulling in 18-20k

Not much more you can do. They have been one of the pioneers in maximizing revenue, including higher ticket prices versus teams like Boston and NY, weekday games starting at 6, filling the stadium with a large selection of craft beer and local restaurants.

They only really do this for maybe 2 series in May

Missed this earlier, but just saw that the Angels gave up their #1 pick from 2019 (IF Will Wilson) to shed the final $13m of Zack Cozart's contract.

That seems mind blowingly short sighted from a team who in the last 9 months gave about $675m to 2 players.

It's not a contending team. If they keep this roster and add their usual veteran scrub or two, they win 85 games. Kluber is finished, and if they can get Fletcher and a decent prospect for him, I do that right now. And I'd be all over a deal like that Dodgers offer for Lindor too.

More like 11 games(as seen in 2016 and 2017) and it has covered April, May and June. I do not care enough to look any further than that simple Google search.
