2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not great for Cimber either.

One would have to be more efficient getting one guy out then Cimber had during his tenure here. Cimber throwing flat, 88 mph fastballs right down the middle of the plate hurts him more than this rule.

Kole Calhoun would be an interesting platoon partner with Luplow. I also wonder if, assuming the Indians are serious about Reyes in RF, a reunion with Edwin could happen? I just don't see a huge market for him.

personally if we only brought in Joe Smith and EE this off season I would be okay with it since EE is good friends with most of the club and I think putting Reyes and Bradley under his mentor ship would be good as well. Smith around as a veteran arm who can help guys like Cimber and the young guys coming up would be cool to as well.

Calhoun or Dickerson make a lot of sense unless the organization feels Daniel Johnson is ready to make regular starts in the outfield.

I don’t think any of us would be against adding a solid hitter at the end of the day since we do have a lot of unproven guys at the end of the lineup right now

I want no part of EE. He was hard enough to watch on NY, don’t make me watch him on the Indians again.

I agree that we shouldn't clog up our DH spot with soon to be 37 year old Edwin, but he was pretty good for the Yankees when he played. His 2019 season between Seattle/New York was actually better than his 2018 season with Cleveland.

Who the hell is Oliver Perez ?

we have 26 spots on the roster next season and if we sign EE, to me it’s not a big deal since he would have helped us a fair amount this season I believe helping JRam get back on track and I think having him around for Reyes would be good too since they end up being similar style of players on paper.

Aka I actually would like to sign a guy like Napoli was for us. Lindor is one of our leaders but having someone like him I feel could make the difference we need

I think you want more of a Jason Giambi. He lead in the clubhouse and as a pinch hitter.
Edwin always struck me as leading while he was producing, not when on the bench or being in a slump...

This is a small reason why I want Moose. Adds a really good bat, fills a need, and would provide a nice veteran boost to the clubhouse. Unfortunately it looks like he may finally be getting a nice deal.

Trade proposal:

CLE receives: Starling Marte and Keone Kela
PIT receives: Bo Naylor, Yu Chang and Eli Morgan.

The Tribe gets two years of Marte at $11.5 million this year and $12.5 million this year (both team options) and Kela at a projected $3.4 million in arbitration for this season; he'll be a free agent in 2021.

If the Indians front office has $20 million to work with this offseason, this trade would leave them with around $6 million or so to sign someone like Asdrubal Cabrera to play 2B.

This lineup would look pretty solid:

Lindor
Marte
J-Ram
Santana
Reyes
Mercado
Asdrubal
Berto
Johnson/Luplow

I like where you are going with this but I have to ask: why are the Pirates making this deal??

Marte & Kela are 2 of their better assets and most likely main items to move to effect a rebuild. To say both of them net only Naylor/ Chang/ Morgan seems very light. I'd expect the Pirates to be seeking Nolan Jones, Ethan Hankins, Naylor & Daniel Johnson..
