I wouldn’t really interpret this as the Indians shopping Clevinger. It’s more or less teams like the Angels calling and asking for Clev, and the Indians asking for a no-brainer package for them in return.

Other teams are always able to ask about players. That is not the Tribe shopping a player.
The Tribe putting a high price tag (in this case Jo Adell PLUS another player) on its player (Clevinger) when asked is smart business. I have no issue with any of that..

I would be curious about the timing of the talks with the Angels.. Depending when the conversation took place (& if something came to fruition), perhaps the Kluber deal doesn't take place...

There’s articles every offseason about GMs take calls on all their players just to see what their value is worth. Doesn’t mean anything. I’m sure Angels get calls and offers for Trout

The Indians actually listen to all players. I remember last season hearing about teams trying to get Luplow from them when they just acquired him from the Pirates.

Indians have a system of listening to everyone within reason but only trading players if teams match what they ask for them. The Angels didn’t match what they asked for Clev so the Indians didn’t trade him. The info is coming out now since it’s a dead deal. The Indians aren’t trying to make trades for Clev, other teams are just trying to upgrade their rosters is all. Honestly a ton of this goes on every single season we just don’t here about them unless they are marquee names
