2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Haase to the Tigers???
Interesting..
Since Ryan Lavarnway already signed with another club, I wonder what are the Tribe plans for AAA catching & 3rd string/ backup C for the MLB team..

The Indians signed Beau Taylor earlier this offseason, so it appears as though he’ll be the starting catcher in Columbus.

we did sign Beau Taylor as @Kevalier stated. We will have to sign a couple more catchers into camp so we aren’t done yet with the NRI invites by a long shot.

Tito with the passive, likely not subtle nod to “balancing” payroll.

I think it makes sense as something that could happen, not sure id call it confidence.

I really doubt this is the case, but do you think it's possible that the front office wants to see Bauers get everyday ABs to salvage the Diaz trade?

He's going to platoon in LF with Luplow.

At only 24, I wouldn't count him out yet. He should have a chance to prove himself in 2020.

His minor league numbers and youth say there's still hope, but he was shockingly awful last season.
No hyperbole, I've never seen a hitter take more strike threes than he did last year.
I'm all on board the Daniel Johnson train.
Hopefully he has a spring training like Mercardo did last season and forces Tito's hand.
DJ's splits against LHP and RHP were really encouraging in AAA last season:

I'm all for it, but there is an opening in RF too. I don't think Greg Allen and Delino Deshields present much of a hurdle. So unless they go out and sign a free agent like Puig, I think there is ample opportunity for the best players to rise to the top and earn the ABs.

LF-Bauers/Luplow
CF-Mercado
RF-Puig
4th OF-DeShields

Columbus starts with a Zimmer/Allen/Johnson outfield and the guy who performs best replaces Bauers if he doesn't hit. If none of the options come through, you potentially have Naquin back mid-year or you make a trade.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Still shook we let Yandy out of our hands. Just seems like every few seasons we cut ties with players right before they reach their potential, Gio comes to mind as well.

LOL

The guy has ONE good season at age 28 and it's the Indians fault they cut ties with him? That guy couldn't have been more lost at the plate with both the Tribe and Blue Jays. Credit to the Yanks for finding something that worked for him but let's not try to re-write history and pretend like he showed any potential at the plate prior to this year.

Brandon Phillips comes to mind

Seriously though, the unfortunate reality of having a great organization is that sometimes guys have to move on.

If only Gio could play shortstop, he’d likely still be an Indian.
