2020 Off-Season Rumors/News

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wasn't expecting an answer, so not surprised. I'll answer it anyway, though: signed an average replacement at 2b, acquired a reliever, and a 4th OFer. And still have Lindor on the trade block. Fail to see how this improves the team to be able to beat the Twins.
That's your prerogative. I'm done trying to convince people who don't want to be convinced.

We have a really good team that continues to make good moves to improve the outlook of the team moving forward.

Completely arbitrary numbers that I found interesting:

The Indians used 54 position players and 30 pitchers last year en route to 93 wins.

In 2017, they used just 41 and 20 en route to 102 wins.

In 2005, they used 38 position players and only 17 pitchers!!! They also won 93 games.

The last time the Indians used 80+ guys throughout the course of a season was in 2009 when they lost 97 games.

Francona & his staff did a hell of a job last year. Too bad people will remember the Yankee issues and forget about the good jobs done by others...

I'd add that the Twins had 146 games started by their top 5 starting pitchers. The Indians top 5 started 119 games and 41 of those were by two guys who began the season in the minor leagues.

I saw replies in twitter indicating that that is a piece of confetti and the part that looks like a wire is just his necklace. You can see the other end on Reddick's right shoulder. I think this one checks out, but the Altuve video is so suspicious
ha. \

so i am willing to let it stretch thats confetti. Im not sure how confetti gets that wet and ends up plastered to him like that, but whatever fine.

However if thats a necklace its got to be one of the longest necklaces of all time. It goes below his obvious necklace by several inches, and then it turns the wrong way indicating its got plenty of slack. If that is in fact a necklace its long enough to touch his stomach. I am not saying its a vibration device but its suspicious.

That said can someone give a better reason than the "players have a union supporting them", for why every single player on those teams hasnt been suspended for a significant period of time. They are just as guilty as managers, so why do they get a pass?

Yankee issues?

Sorry, I’m blanking.

Players get suspended all the time for using performance enhancing substances. I'm pretty sure that's what the wire would be. But since it's not spelled out in the CBA it doesn't count probably. Is there a conduct detrimental to the game clause I wonder? The league has to do something more if this is proven.

Puig shouldn’t hold his breath on that happening.
And this is why he is still looking for a contract to sign..
Every year there are a couple of players & agents that overestimate their worth.. Have to say Puig is part of the group for the 2019-2020 offseason..

Obviously customers aren't buying what the Indians are trying to sell them so maybe change the product?? The Dolans are known to be cheap and until people's minds are changed they won't show up. When you're basically a farm system for the bigger market teams don't expect this to change. Sell the team if you need to.
Pretty much this. When those cheapsakes thought it ok to trade away 2 Cy Young pitchers was the day I decided I would never spend another cent on the Indians till they were gone. They are in fact cheap and try nickle and diming both their fan base and players. And when they do have a winning team they will stop at nothing to let those players walk or trade them for prospects that MAY be good down the road. Why the hell would any casual fan waste both their time and money on something that you know they won't support financially. Could you imagine if Gund/Gilbert did the same thing with LBJ when his extension came up? I get it the economics of baseball are beyond terrible, and it badly needs a salary cap. But, that's not my damn problem it's theirs and if they can't figure it out sell the damn team, it's as simple as that. Fuck the Dolans! they have cost the team multiple chances at a chip and they NEVER be able build any kind of sustainable success because they're greedy bastard, someone mention marketing and was correct the optic and the reality are they need to sale the team to you know... someone that can actually afford.

Puig shouldn’t hold his breath on that happening.

That's actually great news. It means he'll still be looking for a job as spring training gets underway, and he'll eventually have no other choice but to take a one-year prove-it deal with some team ... and if so, the Indians are as good a bet as anybody to be that team.

Puig shouldn’t hold his breath on that happening.
Exactly. He is worth 1.5 to 2 WAR. That's not $15 million a year for multiple years, unless you are a revenue rich team, and none of them are biting.
