I'm down now..I forgot it was on and I didn't see anything on TV last night..maybe a good thing.I'm sure everyone on this board is down tonight. We were hoping for an impact player, and we most likely will get a player that will take a few years to make an impact. At best.
To become a playoff team next season, I think it will require a significant trade. Maybe Love, maybe Garland, maybe Sexton.
We just need some legit NBA vets. Hopefully athletic wings.
Maybe a change of scenery would be good for him? I would not be interested in bringing wiggins (back) to Cleveland, that contract is horrendous and he has a horrendous attitude
....OTOH, the #2 pick would be amazing (LaMello?), and Altman would have turned a #5 pick and a conditional 2nd round pick into a #2 pick and Wiggins, which is like turning lead into gold.
The starting lineup would probably be LaMello, Sexton, Wiggins, Love and a center, or maybe Nance. That would be the worst defensive lineup in the NBA. But that lineup sure would score points in bunches....
I don't think management is interested in a 34-year-old point guard to take developmental minutes away from Garland and Sexton. I'm for dividing up the 96 minutes a game between Garland, Sexton, and Porter. He's probably committed to staying in Miami, but I'd love it if they took a look at Goran Dragic for the full MLE.
If they're trying to win some games this year while still developing Garland, it makes sense to have a legit 3rd guard. Provides some insurance if Garland doesn't take a step forward, but there are still plenty of minutes to get all three on the court for plenty of minutes if they all play well.
Since they’re trying to win, they should be interested. It also wouldn’t take any minutes away from Garland/Sexton unless they falter. Plenty of minutes for all three.I don't think management is interested in a 34-year-old point guard to take developmental minutes away from Garland and Sexton. With Windler coming online and Nance showing he can play the 3 last year and Porter being able to play the 3 in a small lineup I think Cedi is expendable. However, I don't think anybody would offer anything for him.
Drummond for Wiggins and swapping picks actually makes some sense for both teams. Drummond could be a monster rebounder and rim protector for GS with the right coach (Kerr).
But does it make sense for the Cavs? Wiggins has a horrible contract, and he has pretty awful advanced stats (albeit for an awful team), and he is a terrible defender, and he is bound to need the ball in his hands a lot, which would hurt Sexton’s development.

As a Drummond fan, I say go for it. As a Cavs fan, I’m not so sure.
We could have ended up anywhere from 1-6 and it turned out 5. Sucks, but after winning the LeBron coin flip and having the 2.6% ball come through for Kyrie we owe the lottery gods.
I looked at a few mocks and we seem to be getting Toppin or Ocongwa in most of them. I like Ocongwa because he's a center and I don't know if TT will be back or if they have any interest in signing Drummond beyond this year. Throw in Love's injury history and the possibility he'll be traded in a year or two and I can see a real shortage on the front line. I'm happy with the guard situation between Sexton, Garland, and Porter.
The knock on Toppin is he plays no defense so he would fit right in. But we don't need more players who fit that description.
This doesn't seem to be the year to trade up considering there's not much of a consensus who the top five picks are.
Recent #5 picks are: Garland, Trae Young, De'Aaron Fox, Kris Dunn, Mario Hezonja, Dante Exum, and Alex Len. Not real exciting.
My guess is the best case scenario is we end up with a player who has a career similar to #4 pick Tristan Thompson (solid player but never an All-Star) and the worst case is we get another Dante Exum.
If there was ever a lottery you didn't care if you won this would probably be it. All the mock drafts are all over the place with regard to who's going where. If the Cavs draft someone @5 and then say that's the guy we would have taken at `#1, I might even believe them this year.
