2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like it but I think they wait until they see how the draft shakes out before making a trade like this. The question is whether Boston thinks Drummond does more to help them win than Hayward.

Also, I'm not convinced the Cavs need a SF more than a center. They really like Windler, they did great with Nance at the 3 last year, and KPJ can play the 3 when they want to go small. There's also the chance the BPA at #5 is a small forward.

If they traded Drummond for Hayward and then TT decided to sign elsewhere we'd be screwed unless Wiseman falls to us in the draft.

The Cavs don't need a SF???

Windler has played zero minutes in the NBA

KPJ is a SG not a SF

Nance is a 4/5 not a SF.

We need a SF. We only have one true SF and he is as pedestrian as they come. Cedi.

Why don't we stop messing around and just trade Drummond for Hayward straight up? It gives both teams exactly what they want. BOS gets a real C and CLE gets a real SF. Bring TT back and roll with Hayward/Love/TT/Nance/#5 Pick as our front court.

Sign a few vets and make a playoff push.

I think the Cavs is trying to get a pick out of it.

Hayward's salary is $6 million more than Drummond's. I would think we would want to include Exum and take back one of their young players to even out salaries.

We don't have to even out salaries. The trade works straight up.

Expand the deal to be Hayward/Langford for Drummond/Cedi?

I'm not sure about Hayward,,starting to get old (30) had that serious injury and some injury issues last year.
He's only signed for one more year anyway so I doubt he's going to stay in Cleveland.
Not sure I'd pull the trigger on that deal.

Neither player will probably be in Cleveland after this season. I don't see why we would rather have Hayward than Drummond. Hayward takes away minutes from Windler, who they really like and needs to play since he missed his rookie year.

The Cavs did very well with a front line of Nance, Love, and Drummond/TT last year. It was their best lineup in terms of +/-. Nance, Windler, Cedi, and Porter can all play the 3. We don't need Hayward. Having Drummond gives the Cavs a chance to evaluate how he fits with the young core and decide whether they want to make a long term offer. They're definitely not making Hayward a long term offer.

The only way I'd do that deal is if the Cavs were sure Drummond will want more than they're willing to pay after this season and if they can get the #14 out of it. The Celtics have Tatum and Brown at small forward in addition to Hayward so they're overloaded at the position.

Drummond for Hayward and the #14. We basically buy the #14 pick for $6 million and they get a better player at a position where they need help. We'll send them Cedi if they want but I doubt they do.

Last year they got Langford with the #14 pick and he averaged 11 minutes a game. Whoever they take at #14 this year won't sniff the court.

I think people need t be more realistic about where this team is. We have a tendency to overvalue our own players in here.

For example

Dylan Windler has not played a single NBA minute and people are concerned about Gordon Hayward taking minutes away from him?

The Cavs can talk all they ant about having Nance play at the 3. It’s not going to be a thing that happens a lot. TT is a Free Agent. Love, Nance, Drummond is your big man rotation. Drummond is on an expiring and is probably about to get traded. So we’re left with to true C and only Nance and Love as bigs.

One of TT or Drummond is going to be here for the whole season. They have to be. People complain about Love and Nance’s durability but we very well might lose TT and Drummond. All this talk about drafting another guard when we have a very shaky front court situation at best.

We haven’t had a real SF since LeBron. I have watched a lot of Celtics games. Gordon Hayward is more than capable of locking down our SF position and getting other guys to play where they need to be playing. I’m all for experimenting but if you have to play around with so many different lineup combos and you’re already a team that lacks defensive talent you’re in trouble.

Hayward for Drummond and drafting a big is a decent start. Bring back TT and we’re solid. On one hand people are talking shit about Drummond like he’s not good but don’t want to trade him to fill the biggest hole on the team with a serviceable player. We need a SF more than any other position.

I want to see what happens by the deadline rather than deal now for Hayward. I do like his fit as he is a good playmaker with Sexton. He plays well with young players.

I'd also like to see WIndler. He's dope. I don't know if his schtick will work with NBA athletes and the next level of competition and everything, but he is genuinely a really good player.

I'd also like to see what Drummond can bring and if he comes in focused.

I'm sure he won't stay in Cleveland, but Drummond might not either, if I even want him to. I wouldn't mind seeing how the young backcourt looks playing with a competent 3 and a Nance, Love, Thompson rotation up front for a year.
