2020 Series #14 Royals at Indians, Sep. 7-10

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cool. Right in line with his career numbers.
Probably because those are his career #'s which obviously show he's better as a leadoff hitter than as a 3 hole hitter.

In comparison Ramirez is .971 over his career in the 3 hole.

Might want to look at his numbers in the 3-hole where his BA% and OBP% are substantially higher than they are when he's a lead-off hitter across nearly 1000 PA.

SLG% is down in the 3-hole, but that's mostly because he accumulated most of those at-bats there before he developed his power.

Good hitters hit regardless of their spot in the lineup.

I'm sorry to laugh at your post, but I just flat out don't put any value on a player's batting order splits. It's not even a sample size thing. It's just an irrelevant number as far as I'm concerned.

No worries. You are welcome to your opinion.

And if you want to compare apples to apples Lindor is .742 (.256 BA) with RISP and Ramirez is .853 (.288 BA).

I'm an evidence-based person, and there's just no evidence that lineup splits mean anything. That, along with the myth of lineup protection, are two topics on which I have read up extensively.
Yep, just provided you some evidence concerning RISP.

and merrifield starts the game with a double down the right field line - play ball!

A quick inning, in spite of Merrifields two bagger.

nice job by Civale - 2nd night in a row Cesar starts us off by looking at a third strike

Freeman walks bringing up Lindor - anybody have data on how Frankie hits with men on base?

Yes, and Lindor's career numbers with RISP are certainly worth looking at and examining.

He's been mediocre, which is well-below his standard. I'm curious what the difference is because his career numbers in low, medium, and high leverage situations are quite similar to one another, which kind of dispels any notion that he might be tensing up.

Maybe he struggles to pick the ball up from pitchers out of the stretch?

I like Ramirez in the 2-hole because that's where I believe the best hitter belongs:

1. Best OBP% without a lot of power
2. Best hitter
3. 3rd/4th best hitter
4. 2nd best hitter
5. 3rd/4th best hitter

Based on the research I've done, that's the ideal set up with your 6th-9th best hitters filling in accordingly.

The problem with Jose in the two hole is thats its his worst spot in the lineup. Among the three spots he has accumulated significant at bats...he is best by far in the three hole..then in the five hole.

Unfortunately, those are also Carlos' two best spots.

Hit it to the right side, Franmil...the right side.

Aw, crap.
Merrifield singles with two outs. A walk moves him to second. Dozier knocks him in.

Double steal with no throw.

Two more runs on another single.

Civale with nary a problem till merrifield comes to the plate - Aaron does a better job this time holding him to a single - and then walks Mondesi - 2nd time thru doesn't start well - dozier dumps a single into right field and it's 1-0 kc - double steal - men at 2nd and 3rd - Franco singles to left - 3-0 kc - Civale has yet to retire a batter for a second time

Naylor was less than graceful on that play.
