Brault threw 29 pitches in the first. The interesting thing was that he did not have any swings and misses.

He's just an opener, but if you don't miss any bats, you arent likely to last long anyway.

At this point in time I only care about winning the division. The playoffs will take care of itself.

The only way this team can acquire significant offense right now is to trade away the pitching. There is no other way to acquire long term assets. We did that last season with Franmil.

I do not think that we have a bad offense. What we have may not be elite, but its somewhat above average. The problem isn't lack of talent, its lack of production at the moment. We don't need better hitters, we need the guys we have to start hitting like they can.

These are the career OPS+ of our basic starting lineup...

92
120
118
102
119
107/102
110
78
76

The slash is the RF platoon, and would be much better if it included only their best side.

The last two are Berto and Deshields. Bertos is one of the best defensive catchers in baseball. Deshields is one of the best defensive CFs in baseball, and sets up the top of the order well.

Those numbers are not those of a bad offense. If they all hit at just their averages...nothing special....this is an above average offense.
the numbers from last season tell us we were an average offense - not above average - and that's despite guys like santana and perez (and maybe luplow) having career years

the numbers this year (such as they are) tell us our offense is awful at this point

Civale with a 12 pitch inning, matching the number of times he shook off Berto...lol.

Last year we had Hanley, Cargo, and Martin to start. They dragged down the overall numbers. Tell me that you expect Franmil, Domingo, and Deshields to be as bad as those guys. And throw in Hernandez over Kip.

There is no comparison between last years offense and this one.

Its true that so far its been bad but that doesn't mean that its a bad offense, just one thats been in a miserable slump.

Brault flipped me off by mowing down our guys for the last two innings.

Civale gives up a single in the third, but he's at a svelte 36 pitches thru three.

JRam aboard via E6, but a 5-4-3 erases him.

I love watching Civale pitch.

IDIOT.

The guys got a no hitter thru four.

fwiw - bauer just had a 4 pitch 1st for the reds

You don't have to be fast to be a good base runner.

Did you see Domingos reaction?

Lol
