This is the first time I’ve seen something that made me really think Mobley could approach KD-ish levels of smooth. Seems like he’s been putting in a lot of work on the handle and pull up off the dribble.

Eventually I hope he speeds up that release.

What's the most you would give up to get rid of him? 2 2nds? Wade? Windler? We really don't have any assets between Windler and a guy we took in the lottery or a potential lottery pick next year.
That's part of the reason that I don't see it happening. We are not planning to compete for much this year, so there is no motivation to move him just so we might improve a little bit. On our time frame, we are better off in the lottery 1 more year than picking in the mid-teens. We don't have a lot (any?) low cost and attractive prospects to pair with him - at least none we want to part with. And it would be nearly impossible salary wise to pair him with Rubio or Laurie - Who is in position to take on that much salary for non-star players?

You bide your time. You never play him in back to backs, and you give him rest when he needs it. It's not impossible he is movable at the deadline for expirings. Drummond type of deal.

I assume you mean the deal we made to acquire Drummond in 2020, because we ended up dumping him for nothing last year.

It's weird, all those videos posted earlier were at a big guard camp. Maybe they just call it that because they are working on guard skills with big men. When I see him in all those clips it does look like he might be able to be a SF, but then when I saw him in Summer League.....I dunno.....he didn't look so smooth.

Haha yeah 1.25 yrs left. Sort of thing a contender might try if he actually had a good year.

Def not ready yet, but he can do some stuff off the dribble with both the pass and the shot that makes you think.

If he was actually a big wing, the trajectory of this team could be really wild

I'm kind of skeptical we can pull that off. Drummond was healthy and only 26 years old when we acquired him in 2020. Love is 32, hasn't played more than 60 games in a season since 2015-16, and make $5M more than did Drummond. And even then, we only had to give up table scraps for Drummond. I just can't see anyone willing to take on his salary period, much less give up any assets to acquire him.

I thought just for expirings. maybe 1 expiring and a smaller bad contract? Something like that.

Come on now. I love Mobley, but KD averaged 26 points, shot 40% form 3 on 6 shots a game and showed that smoothness in his only year of college ball. I do think Mobley will be special, but lets not put KD special on him. KD could end his career as a top 5 of all time level player....top 10 for sure imo.
