Do you guys think the Suns will pony up to retain both Ayton and Mikal Bridges after this season? Between Paul, Booker, Ayton, and Bridges, they'd be firmly in luxury tax territory, and Sarver has had certainly developed a reputation, at least in the past, for being cheap. Bridges would be a fantastic fit, and if Sexton is not on our 2022-23 roster, we could conceivably clear enough cap space to make a play.

Eh, nobody said Sexton was getting traded asap. I wouldn't be surprised if he is moved in/by October.
lol nobody that said he is getting traded was right and neither are you. Could he get traded sure, will he? the odds are far less than you think.

Booker and Ayton are going to get paid! That’s a no brainer!
Those two are the Suns’ cornerstone franchise players. Bridges is another issue! They may let him walk.

Booker is already getting paid to the tune of 31.65 / 33.84 / 36.02 the next three years. CP3 is getting paid around 30 the next two years, at least. Ayton and Bridges are currently eligible for extensions, and will be up for RFA next summer. If Bridges has a chance to walk, or even be a potential S&T option, shouldn't we be all over that if we can clear the cap space?

No way in hell do they let him walk. Bridges is as important a piece as Ayton to their defense. And he adds reliable shooting on the wing. Bridges was the guy we should have drafted in '18.

He'd be a fantastic fit, and in most cases, there's no reason he should be available. The reason I brought it up is that the Suns have an owner with the reputation of being cheap, and they could potentially be way into luxury tax territory if they choose to retain both Ayton and Bridges. With Paul and Booker already under contract, if they were on the hook for max contracts for both Ayton and Bridges, they'd be looking at a cap hit of $142 mil in 2022-23 just between Paul, Booker, Ayton, Bridges, Crowder, and Saric, with a luxury threshold estimated at $145 mil. That's before exercising team options on their first rounders from 2019 and 2020, and offering a QO to Landry Shamet.

If Dan, or plenty of other owners out there was running the Suns, then yeah it'd be a good bet that they would retain both Ayton and Bridges, but do you think Sarver is willing to do so? If they only keep one, then who do you think they'd choose?

lol your homophobia is showing wtf are you talking about man?
You clearly are saddened by the fact that Sexton has not been traded, and I am laughing my ass off about it because you think that means I love the man. What I love is seeing you cry

Man, the more you look back @ the Andre Drummond trade, the more you realize how bad it was for Cleveland.

We gave up scraps, but we had to eat an extra year of his contract, & were eventually forced to buy him out.

For the Pistons, everybody agreed that their return was garbage. It was, but they were able to dump him without attaching any assets. It was a good trade for them if you think about it.

Still, the end result for us wasn't bad. We simply bought him out & didn't give up anything meaningful. It could've been alot worse on our end.

When did you realize Drummond is booty?

One thing that Drummond did was prevented the front office from offering a good amount to TT to try to get him to stay. I think without Drummond, they would have tried to beat the Celtics offer to TT and would have created another bad contract in the process.

I didn’t agree with you at first, but by the end of your post you had changed your tune to one I do agree with. :chuckle:

Drummond saved us from TT!

KPJ gift-wrapped us Mobley!

The Twin Agents of Fortune!

I think Drummond was also to see how a big man can help our guards. We haven’t really had a center like him since Z. Even though Drummond was not great it showed that we needed big men who can play defensively and able to score. Then we got Allen and just signed as part of our future core and now we have Mobley. It ended up great in the long term.

Totally agree. Drummond was an experiment to see how a big would fit with helping the small backcourt. The idea being to target Wiseman.
We got lucky and dodged that bullet, but got Allen.
