2021 Around MLB: Return of the Dead Ball Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
In advance of the season I thought the White Sox starting pitching would prevent them from winning the Division, but I am certainly not burying them yet...much as with the Tribe, let's give it a month or more and see where we are. It will likely be a very competitive division.

Anyone else see where a White Sox game that was cancelled last week has been rescheduled later in the season as a split admission doubleheader? That's kind of the norm these days, but here's the rub: each game of the split admission doubleheader is only going to be seven innings!

Now I don't know about you, but I regard that as a massive rip-off, and should be grounds for a class action lawsuit.

Would YOU be happy exchanging your tickets for a nine-inning game for one of these seven-inning games?

Yep. It wouldn't bother me one bit.

It's one thing to purchase something you want up front, and I don't begrudge those of you who prefer baseball being played in bite-sizes, but if you actually bought something that was a nine inning game and suddenly you're told it's only a seven inning game--hey, we're going to take twenty minutes out of this movie, OK?--it just seems high-handed to me.

I think it's odd that you attach the value to the length of the event.

I wouldn't pay extra for a soccer match that had 120 minute halves instead of 45. I wouldn't pay extra for a 25 inning game of baseball. I wouldn't find it more valuable to watch the Masters if it were on a 27-hole course.

To each his own. You don't like it, I'm sure you can get a refund or an exchange for a different game.

Most people would probably smile and think :

Good I don't have to sit there for an extra 40 minutes or feel guilty about leaving early

Ha Ha Ha :woohoo3:

This is a real bonus for all the people that think baseball games are too long. With a new collective bargaining agreement coming, this could be a regular feature, like Dollar Dog Night!

They should give a voucher to attend any two innings of a game of their choice.

Have you ever tried to do that? Those people who bought tickets for the original game that day...do you think they are being offered the right to exchange them?

I'm frankly startled at the reaction to this here. It certainly isn't the way Sox boards are reacting. Guess it's true; Clevelanders really don't like baseball all that much. Gimme a seven inning game, or hell, five innings is "regulation"...I'll take that!

As an Indians season ticket holder, I constantly moved my tickets around willy-nilly with no restrictions. They couldn't have made things more convenient for me.

At one point I consolidated my two tickets from like 12 different games into one game for a work outing.

Surely you can see your leap from "People aren't outraged over a double-header being reduced from 9 innings to 7" to "YOU DONT LIKE BASEBALL!" is nonsensical, right?

I would prefer a 9 inning game, but I do believe that players and management agreed to 7 inning double headers, so I get it, and in context, I am fine with it. Could the Sox do better by their ticket buyers? Absolutely

I stand corrected. I wasn't aware there was this kind of flexibility.

I don't believe there were any split-admission double headers last year at all.
