2021 Around MLB: Return of the Dead Ball Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So the Reds took a flyer on Beau Taylor... fine. At least we wont confuse him with Bo Naylor any longer (trying to hear/ understand who is playing)..

I thought I saw Gianpaul Gonzalez got resigned to a minor deal & I thought there are 4 catchers at the Tribe alt site... Perhaps the option is already in house. Otherwise, what about the guy the Reds designated - Deivy Grullon as a minor league depth guy??

Edit: Yes, according to cleveland.com, the Tribe has 4 catchers at the alt site already:

Catchers: Gavin Collins, Ryan Lavarnway, Mike Rivera, Eric Rodriguez.

Collins though really hasnt been much of a catcher lately, and do you know anything about the other two guys ? lol

I thought there was a chance Taylor would sneak through. However, let’s be honest. If we lose Perez for extended time, we can’t even trust Hedges. If we need another AAAA catcher, what will be the cost? It will be someone who will be Rule 5 eligible (left un-rostered) at year end or much cheaper.

Indians took a gamble trying to solve the OF, keeping Bauers, Zimmer, Ramirez, Gamel and others to see what they have. One of them (the loser of battle) plus cash will fetch you someone just a notch below Taylor, if need be. However, whoever you give up, would most likely be cut at year end anyways. This just buys time to make sure you don’t give up on anyone too early. And, at some point, people will wake up to realize Gamel and Luplow is about looking competitive vs being competitive. We aren’t going to win with Hedges let alone Taylor if Perez goes down.

The Chisox game last night followed a familiar pattern.

Gave up two unearned runs early, due to two errors by different outfielders on the same play, then a reliever three run meltdown to lose it in the bottom of the eighth.

Heuer gives up the solo blast to Jared Walsh.. after the "keystone kops" defensive routine by the Angels.. The kid's arm (heuer) is dynamic.. just electric.. CWSox pen is going to be a bear..

Maybe so, but they are getting their asses kicked so far.

If our pen and defense looked like theirs, this board would be in total meltdown.

So far the defense has given up five unearned runs.

In three out of four games, a reliever has given up multiple runs in the Angels last at bat to lose the game.

Only one starter has gone 5 IP.

FWIW - Ka'ai Tom made his ML debut as a pitcher yesterday.. 1 IP 1H 0R 0BB 0K.

I know he's the enemy but what a bargain Nelson Cruz is for the Twins. Had no idea he's only making 13 mil.

He'll turn 41 this summer. No one else wanted to give him that money, and for good reason. I'll reserve judgment on how much of a bargain he is until later this year. He wore down in last year's 60-game season...I'll be very curious how he'll do at this age in 162.

Tatis hurt his shoulder swinging last night...a partial shoulder separation.

Its a blow for him, for the Padres, and for baseball in general.

But given his injury history, it shouldn't be a major surprise. In his short career, he's has had hand, back, and shoulder problems previously.

The guy has never made more than 14 mil in a season and is a consistent .280-.300 hitter with 40 dongs and 100 rbi. I'd take him in my lineup at that cost 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

Not the point. He's going to be 41 this summer.

You know this will get political too quick.

That's exactly what happens. The initial comment seems okay, then each response gets further out there until accusations of nazism/racism/whateverism are flying, and I have neither the time nor the patience to police that.
