2021 Around MLB: Return of the Dead Ball Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Great that it isn't our problem anymore... Hopefully for his sake he can focus on baseball this year and perform like he can. Then he can get that money he wants. If he performs the way he has the past 2 years is he even worth $200 million?
He'll be playing in a better lineup, but in a far worse hitter's park this season....Career year is possible but not especially likely. Then there is the possible lock out/strike looming on the horizon... He should take the loot.

I think anyone on this board, outside of baseball would take the $325 million and run. Especially since MLB contracts are fully guaranteed.

But who are we but spectators

My guess is it's not all about the total money, but also the 12 vs 10 years. That 12 years takes him to his age 39 season, and what qualifies Lindor for the 10 year deal is the fact he is only 27. I think his agent is getting greedy with the extra 2 years, and as pointed out, there are a ton of quality SS hitting the FA market, he should take this 10 year deal, IMO.

1/3 of a billon dollars to play baseball....

crazy money, crazy time span, crazy times. If he doesn't take the money, and has a season like the last couple, and is offered say $255m, the MLBPA will use him in their negotiations as an example of how players are getting screwed.

I don’t see this ending well for Lindor in NYC. He’s gone after the season.

I have no problem with players going for everything they can get. After all, it's the American way.
As long as they are honest about it.

I also have no problem with, and actually admire, a player betting on himself.

If Lindor doesn't take the Mets offer, that is exactly what he is doing...betting on himself.
The dollars doen't really matter. They are merely points in a game. And Lindor would be betting that he can hit the highest number on the pinball machine.

You must LOVE Bauer then CATS !!!! :celb (7):

Sorry CATS, I just couldn't resist when I saw this in the other locked thread

I bet 95% of the guys in MLB would be more than happy with that deal also

Lindor has a HUGE EGO, he just was never really challenged about it in Cleveland.

I hope he goes to free agency and has to compete with all the SS coming on the market this off season.

It will be fun to see him actually have to measure up, versus being the only one they can negotiate with

Personally, I hope the Mets pony up and lock themselves in for 12 years. Love seeing those well-monied teams soak themselves.

I'm just glad it's not My team doing it!

I've never had a problem with Bauers approach to free agency. I kinda like it...hired gun for sale.

Now, if he can only back it up for five or six years, like Kluber...and other truly elite pitchers.... do.

I'm sure this is just meant to be a jab at @jup to push his buttons, but calling the reigning Cy Young winner (could've been his second time winning the award if it wasn't for injury) not elite is certainly a take...
