2021 Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know what smokescreens are, and I know teams can purposely put out bad information for various purposes. That's not my point.

My point is when you say things like "they know other front offices get info from message boards like this", you're using the rhetoric claiming you know what they do, just like some RCFers and guys like Evan who claim to have their sources. How do you know they know?

My other point is, if this is the info put out by the Cavs as a smokescreen,
  • How is it that only 2 guys in the entire basketball world (RichieRichPaul on RCF & Evan Dammarell) "heard" about Okoro going against Kuminga/workout going bad?
    • Why would they feed these unknown individuals of all people that info if the purpose of the smokescreen is to get it out there?
  • How is it that only 3 people in the entire basketball world (RichieRichPaul on RCF, Evan Dammarell, & now Jordan Zirm I guess) "heard" about Mobley working out for the Cavs?
It doesn't add up.

It was a long time ago but someone creditable, maybe Windy or Wine and Gold said he knew opposing teams were reading this message board because they were basically just saying exactly the same stuff that was coming up on here. If I remember right it was brought up in one of the chats that was organized but I'm not 100% sure on exactly where they said it.

On your questions, they could all be getting their information from the same person or the same chain of people. The Cavs might not be directly leaking it to the reporters. It could be two or three people out so the details could get mix up in the process. The Cavs might have given the Okoro part or Mobley working out to a specific person so they can weed out their leaks.

I mean this is the same type of dangerous rhetoric as people who claim to have their sources. How are you so "sure" about the counterintel and how do you know that the Cavs "know other front offices get info from message boards like this"?

This strategic counterintel they put out is just that Kuminga went against Okoro when he didn't? And the only 2 people who seemed to have caught onto this is a random poster on RCF and this Evan guy? That doesn't make too much sense to me lol
So both Okoro and Kuminga played in the 2018-2019 Nike EYBL games, although they never played each other. Kuminga shows up on the stat line occasionally, usually in rebounds, but once in points. He was teamed with Cockburn, who dominated the leader boards. Okoro was teamed with Cooper, and frequently lead in points and rebounds, sometimes in assists. Cooper more often in points and assists. But Okoro was clearly more relevant to his team, which also had a much better record during the event. This is the only record I could find of both guys in the same space at the same time. So if there is a story of Okoro destroying Kuminga, well in a manner of speaking during this tournament, Okoro was way better. That is not the same as crushing him in a predraft workout. One by product of this was the discovery on my part, that Okoro was an offensive force. So whatever narrative of his poor offensive ability is going on needs to check itself. Also Cooper was pretty damned good.

My guess is that there may be a bit of a game of "telephone" going on here. Someone describes the difference in workouts by Kuminga and Okoro (last year), and uses sloppy language suggesting they were at the same workout. Filter that through 2-3 people, and you end up with Okoro smashing Kuminga.

So nobody is making stuff up - they're just hearing stuff so attenuated from eyewitnesses that important details got screwed up.

I thought it could be that too. I also wonder if some of these chain of sources are just drinking buddies and it's stuff that slips at 1am. Then the other person has to remember the hazy conversation the next morning.

Does anyone has any thoughts on what Cade Cunningham looks like if he's not a primary ball handler? He played that way in HS and his lone year in college. I can see a team putting the ball in his hands in the League, too, but I think that'll be a mistake. However, I struggle to think who/what he'll be without ISO ball for himself. Has he shown any penchant for catch-and-shoot skill? Does he move well without the ball? As average as a few think he'll be as a playmaker, is there a reason to think he'll be better as a play finisher?

#MyLoveLetterToCade
I'd love to see him be an aggressive ball-pushing forward in the open-floor in transition, but also be able to pull back, and get into a set where maybe Sexton can get down hill, and CC can be ready for a kickout in the half-court. Like a better shooting Andre Iguadoala on offense.

I still can't fathom how the Pistons at their stage of rebuilding could be thinking about Cade over Green/Mobley. Its like a gift to the 3rd team selecting.

On hoopshype.com it looks like they are confirming that cade will go at 1 green at 2 and Mobley at 3. If you think I’m making stuff up go to their site.

Interesting draft news here, Jalen Green is only planning one more additional workout With the Rockets. Almost seems like the order is set depending on what the Pistons do.

It looks like a lock that 1-2 go Cunningham then Green

and the Cavs need to make the obvious choice with Mobley. This is a guy that would be a sure fire #1 in many drafts. He’s going to somehow fall to us at #3.

Easy decision.

It doesn't hold up to a lot of scrutiny because why would an agent allow even a rookie NBA player guard their prospect? Nothing good could come of that. I could see a guy coming in for a workout putting up shots on the court with guys who were working out, but I don't even know if they allow that.
This is slightly different but wasn't one of the big selling points for Tristan Thompson at #4 back in 2011 that he shut down Derrick Williams (the presumptive No. 2 prospect in the draft) during a team workout? It makes even less sense to me that an agent would allow the second highest rated prospect in the draft to go against a riser like TT than to have a guy trying to crack the Top 3 working out against that team's best defensive wing. IDK

That was also 10 years ago and things change. File it under "things we'll probably never know for certain."
