2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean, I can share it now. But I feel like it’s a good one to sit on for when conversations dry up during the lockout.

Have a few up my sleeve on some minor leaguers to keep us sane over the next few months.

Thanks for doing what you do man. Hold on to your nuggets for as long as you see fit.

Edit... Seeing how his name is Noel, seems appropriate to wait a couple more weeks.

Hoynes said in article "The Guardians are carrying 36 players on their 38-man Class AAA roster, meaning they can select two eligible players on Wednesday. " Yet, he didn't know list.

Yet, to my question if any player really utimately contributes in mlb, he said..."Last year the Arizona Diamonbacks drafted right-hander Tyler Gilbert from the Dodgers’ unprotected list in the minor-league phase. Gilbert threw a no-hitter for the Diamonbacks against the Padres on Aug. 14 in the first start of his big-league career." He ended up 3.15 ERA, 2-2, and 1.1 WAR (as he basically won game single handed)

View attachment 7361Updated top ten prospects in the Guardians farm system from Baseball America.
This is a DEEP system. Consider what names are likely in the 11-25 range:
Jhonkensey Noel
Cody Morris
Richie Palacios
Jose Tena
Xzavion Curry
Ethan Hankins
Tanner Burns
Petey Halpin
Bryan Lavastida
Peyton Battenfield
Konnor Pilkington
Hunter Gaddis
Steven Kwan
Nick Mikolajchak
Jerson Ramirez

I look forward to seeing the full Baseball America listing when the prospect Handbook is released...

Top 5 looks pretty spot on. Flip 1 and 2 for me though and pop in Palacios at 7 or 8.

Edit. You could even make a pretty solid case for Jhonkensy Noel being in the top 10 as well.
Hmm.. you bring up a good point.. flipping.. for you, it's Espino Freeman..

For BA it's the reverse..

For me.. it's Valera Rocchio Espino Arias Freeman..

In short.. you can put any one of the top five into any order and make a good argument for the arrangement..

Shows t he kind of depth the top of the Guardians MiLB has..

Valera Has to be the top lefty SS in all of baseball. Maybe of all time!
The results aren't too inaccurate, when you just put SS on all our position players.

Edit: Freeman probably get #1 due to having a higher relative floor compared to the others. I don't think I agree with it, especially until his bat shows a little more pop or walks but as mentioned, the top 5 could probably take any order except I'd probably stick Freeman and Arias at 4/5.

Also interesting to still see Bo at #7, and Lavastida off the list.

Bo is rated higher in every single ranking I have seen. Mostly I think it's cause of potential plus experience is on his side. Lavastida hasn't had very many innings so its impossible to say one way or the other cause of that...

Easy answer in regards to Naylor? Prospect pedigree.. Both he and Jones will need good years in 2022 or they should (but will they?) drop out of the top 10.

Lavastida was in the 20-30 range last year, probably right around 15 now if I had to guess.

Yeah I wonder if it's a relic of bygone times though... Bo was always rated as more of an offense catcher and the offense we surely did not see last year. I would've pegged him out of the top 10. I wonder what other lists will do. Fangraphs is starting to leak theirs out...

In Noah's (as his brother calls him - maybe we should too?) defense, he is still young (turning 22 in Feb.) and has been pushed, not coddled. But lack of improvement in 2022 will be legitimate cause of concern.

His numbers in 2021 were pretty terrible the K's and lack of hits specifically and definitely "worse" than his 2019 season. Not the stuff you want to see, and if/when I make list at some point, he might not make the top 10.

Ya, Bo is 21 months younger than Lavastida. Make a big difference in prospect rankings.

I was a little surprised he was still at 7. Will be interesting to see how he does in AA after being one of the youngest guys in the league last year. Had to be really hard to jump to AA being so young and after a year off.

Let's see

Baseball America I believe was posted earlier...

Not every place has their preseason ones out, but Lavastida is the one that's been moving up (into the teens) while Naylor has been sitting top 10 (around 6-8) in every publication...
